Baron Kane is the third boss of the 2012 Indie Game. Dust: An Elysian Tail. and being the main boss of the games' third chapter. he is the Baron and Landlord of The Sorrowing Meadow and the Husband of Cora. He Betrayed his friends and neighbors by turning them over to General Gaius for wealth, He later passed away but his spirit turned into a wrathful ghost, haunting the sorrowing meadow and terrorizing and killing anyone passing through.

I should have told you. I just... thought you would abandon me. I thought the one good thing I ever had would leave me to die alone. |

Kane was once a man who lived his wife in the sorrowing meadow, until his Greed made him betray his friends and neighbors for the sake of wealth and profit.
After Dust defeated the Demonic Presence in him and clamed his soul. Kane became extremely remorseful of all of his past actions, realizing that he had thrown his own friends away, all for money and wealth
the one thing Kane truely loved was his wife Cora. he had expressed remorse for not trusting her and telling her of his actions, and spent her last moments with her and departed to the afterlife with her.

Dust: What did he do? Cora: He was something of a... war profiteer. He would give the king's general information about Moonblood sympathizers and receive money in return. Our friends, our family... nobody was safe from his treachery. |

Kane was the Baron and Landlord of The Sorrowing Meadow, where he lived with wife and servants. however, he would sellout his own friends and neighbors in the Meadow to General Gaius, calling them Moonblood Sympathizers, and would receive wealth in return. one of his servants witnessed their arrest and execution nearby, and would ask Kane about this, and kane bribed the servant with extra pay to never speak of it again. that same servant would later go into his office to clean it and came across a list of the names of his friends and neighbors including the servant's own name too, while he was writing down in his journal about what he witnessed, it abruptly ended, implying that kane killed him. Kane would also tell General Gaius of a hidden village called Zeplich Village in the Blackmoor Mountains. Kane would receive his last payment for it and Gaius would send Cassius and his assassins to destroy the village. When Cora found out about Kane's actions, She was horrified by and left him. Kane would later regret his actions and later passed away after Zeplich villaghe was attacked and destroyed. Kane's spirit was later consumed by his rage and a demonic presence. when Cora returned to the mansion to gather her belongings, she noticed that all the servants had abandoned the mansion in a single night because of kane's actions. and that Kane began to haunt the sorrowing meadow, Terrorizing and consuming the souls of travelers passing through. and the meadow started to become infested with undead.
Dust: An Elysian Tail[]
when Dust went to the Sorrowing Meadow. Kane, under the influence of the demonic presence, sensed dust entering the meadow and that he was a being with twins souls in him. he created a magic barrier blocking the entrance to the Blackmoor Mountains to keep Dust from leaving. Dust entered the Sorrowing Meadow, where he ran into Cora in the center of the meadow, who told dust to explore the meadow and the mansions for her and her husband's keepsakes. while exploring the mansions, Dust and Fidget run into kane, and the blade of Ahrah tells dust of Kane's intangibility and cannot be harmed, and tells him to run. throughout all the mansions, Dust runs from Kane who continues to stalk dust and attempt to kill him, but dust was able to get away and get cora and kane's keepsakes. When Dust, Fidget, and Ahrah return to Cora, she tells dust the reason why she's in the meadow, telling him of kane's actions, that he sold out his friends and family to gaius for money, and that the demon chasing them in the mansions was kane, who was consumed by his rage. Cora tells dust to help her husband, as she wants to spend her last moments with him. kane catches up to dust with intent on killing for sure, and the keepsakes come into contact with him, causing kane to remember his past and causing his anger to tuirn to regret, causing him to lose his intangibility, and dust fights him and defeats kane, purging the demonic presence from his spirit. kane would noticed cora and expresses his regrets to her, saying that everything he aquired was bought with the blood of his loved ones, and apologizes to cora, saying that he should have trusted and told her. he later thanks dusts and tells him of his twin souls. and also tells him of Zeplich village in the blackmoor mountains. where he revelaed it to gaius, but learned of a single survivor, who is ginger, that survived the village's destruction. the two thank dust again, and dust leaves the meadow and both Cora and Kane to be at peace in Cora's final moments. after Dust defeats general gaius, Cora would finally pass away, and both she and Kane depart to the afterlife together.

- Kane's Appearance is similar to the enemy Kackle from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest. as both have ghostly skeletal appearances and both are involved in chase sequences in areas.
