Biography[]
Before the event of the Paralogue "Black Market Scheme" of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Baron Ochs was informed that his daughter Monica was kidnapped, having being held hostage by a the unknown organization. Demanding that he gives them the Vajra-Mushti to spare his daughter's life, Baron Ochs complied with their offer and headed to the imperial capital of Enbarr, where he found the relic they wanted. Before he could leave, however, Byleth and his allies arrived at Enbarr, trying to find the relic Ochs had. Desperate at the unfolding situation, Baron Ochs uses the Hero's Relic against Byleth and his class. While Balthus tries to warn Ochs that using Vajra-Mushti without its crest would turn him into a demonic beast, the frantic baron uses the relic on himself regardless. After being defeated in battle, the baron's body is transformed into a monster known as the Forlorn Beast, rising once more to defeat the heroes. However, even this state proves to be not strong enough to defeat Byleth and their allies, with the Forlorn Beast eventually being felled. In his final moments, Baron Ochs calls in misery to his daughter, begging for forgiveness.
In Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Baron Ochs appears in the Azure Gleam route's eleventh chapter, "Reprisal". Here, Baron Ochs is among the nobles called upon by Duke Gerth to fight against Dimitri and the Kingdom Army, with the baron being depicted here alongside his daughter and several former attendants of Garreg Mach Monastery. Despite their numbers, this ensemble of nobles proves to be ineffective against the encroaching army, with Baron Ochs being among those slain in the battle. Furious at her father's death, Monica attempts to defeat the heroes themselves, although she is forced to flee after being defeated.
While Baron Ochs doesn't show up in the Scarlet Blaze route of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Monica mentions him in the paralogue "An Incurable Shut-In" after he is blackmailed by Those Who Slither in the Dark over the Vajra-Mushti. However, this timeline sees the baron able to escape their clutches, with Monica set on defeating the group with Edelgard's aid.
