My name is Baron Theodore Mildenhall. Hunting has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember -- although one could say it eventually became more of an obsession.
~ Baron's introduction in the tape.
I apologize, dear listener, but I need a living host in order to escape the hall of the damned, and your bodies will be my only means of doing so.
~ Baron revealing his true intentions to Pomni and Kinger.

Baron Theodore Mildenhall is the titular main antagonist in the third episode, The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor of the 2023 Glitch Productions series The Amazing Digital Circus.

He was a baron and hunter that resided in the Mildenhall Manor who was killed and dragged down to Hell when his manor was raided by a Angel and he made the mistake of attacking it. He has since resided there, hoping to claim a living host for him to escape.

He was voiced by Tim Alexander.

Personality[]

Very little is known about how Baron was like prior to his death, but he had a hobby of hunting and became invested in hunting down the monsters and ghosts that plagued his manor. Over time, however, he grew paranoid to the point that he mistook his wife, Martha, for the mysterious creature known as the Angel and ended up shooting her by accident. According to Martha, he has a habit of monologuing endlessly, enough that he could turn a "57-second story into a Greek tragedy".

Throughout his recorded tapes, he presents himself in a well-spoken and mannered individual that assists in warning those about the Creature, though this is done to secretly guide them in helping him find a living host for him to escape from Hell. Even when revealing his intentions, he still acts cordial, sincerely apologizing for their predicament and what he's about to do to them. When Pomni briefly meets him in person, she hopes out loud that his corpse doesn't come to life, with the Baron agreeing not to.

Biography[]

Background[]

Little is known about Baron prior to his death. What is known is that he was a baron who was married to Martha and to pass the time, he took up hunting monsters in his spare time.

At some point, he became so obsessed with his hunting that he chose to hunt a demon that had been raiding his manor. He soon became paranoid upon seeing that the beast couldn't be killed and wound up shooting his wife accidentally. This causes him to lock himself in the basement and face the beast head on. What Baron didn't realize was that the beast was an angel of God and that by harming it, Baron was damned to Hell. Seeing this, Baron orchestrated a series of tapes that would mislead anyone who heard them into attacking the angel and allowing Baron to possess them.

The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor[]

When the Circus-Goers arrive at the manor, Pomni and Kinger are sent through the scary door while everyone else goes through the calm door.

Pomni and Kinger discover Baron's tapes and wind up shooting the Angel when it attacks them. Baron then reveals the truth about the Angel and the two are sent to Hell for him to possess. In Hell, Pomni is possessed by multiple ghosts and attacks Kinger. She is saved and Kinger gives her courage for both of them to escape.

Quotes[]

My name is Baron Theodore Mildenhall. Hunting has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. Although, one could say it became more of an obsession. The creature you see before you is one I've been pursuing for years. Not quite a man... but not quite an animal. Something... unholy. Something evil. I took it upon myself to spend every waking moment doing all I could to protect my family from the creature, hoping that when I eventually killed it, I would be freed from this awful feeling. This inescapable dread. I was wrong.
~ Baron Theodore Mildenhall's first recording, featuring background on himself and his quest to hunt the Angel to escape his hunting obsession.
Tuesday, December 4th. Although I had shot the creature multiple times at its vitals and severed its head to keep as a prize on my wall... my troubles were just beginning. I took my eyes off the body for what felt like only a minute, and when I looked back, the body was gone. The creature was not dead, and it would be back to reclaim what I'd taken from it. If anyone is listening to this, all I ask of you is one thing -- do not let the head out of your sight. You have been warned.
~ Baron's second recording, informing his knowledge of the Angel, rather being placed inconveniently to be the second recording rather than the first.
Things have gotten far worse than I could ever have imagined. My paranoia had driven me to the point where I was no longer the protector my wife and theoretical children needed. Jumping at every shadow, every noise. I ended up shooting the love of my life, mistaking her for the creature. It's ironic, isn't it? In my attempts to protect her, I ended up becoming the monster myself. Now I wait down in my cellar, no longer having anything to protect but my own soul. If nothing else... I will slay the beast that took everything from me.
~ Baron's third recording, describing his situation getting worse.
Pomni: Please don't come alive...
Baron Theodore Mildenhall: Okay, I won't.
~ Baron to Pomni, also his only non pre-recorded lines, suddenly and humorously giving away he was undead, showing his generosity in allowing Pomni taking his rifle.
Baron Theodore Mildenhall: ...Which is what I would be saying if I didn't know that the creature was actually one of God's Angels.
Kinger: What.
Baron Theodore Mildenhall: And anyone who brings harm to it will be dragged down into the cold, spiraling pits of Hell, where my soul resides. I apologize, dear listener, but I need a living host in order to escape the Hall of the Damned, and your bodies will be my only means of doing so.
~ Baron revealing his true intentions to Pomni and Kinger through the third recording.
Kinger: Now, wait a minute. How did he record this if he was in Hell?
Baron Theodore Mildenhall: (Arms and vortexes appear beneath them) I hope you're ready, because the next breath down there will be your last, and your bodies will belong to me.
Pomni: I HATE THIS STUPID ADVENTURE!!!!!!
~ Baron's final lines before dragging Pomni and Kinger down to Hell.

Trivia[]

  • His corpse is the closest in the series to being a full model of a real person.
    • Fittingly, the Baron is also the only villain in the series to have a name that a human would typically have.
  • It's currently unknown whether the Baron was one of the spirits who possessed Pomni and taunted Kinger, although it's not likely considering that the spirit sadistically taunting Kinger was very out of character for the otherwise polite (albeit malicious) Baron.
  • The Baron mentions in his tape that he and his wife had "theoretical children", suggesting either they had children or were planning to at one point, prior to their deaths.
  • A joke character in the production comics for The Amazing Digital Circus, known as The Bone Pastor, is a character who appears identical to Jax with the exception of missing his right arm and having an animal's skull for a head. This character makes a small cameo in Baron's hunting room next to the Angel's head, which while likely having no lore relevance, implies that The Bone Pastor was slain at the hands of Baron.
  • Despite being questioned in the episode it is never revealed how Theodore was able to record his tapes in Hell.
  • The Baron (alongside the Angel and the Evil Big Tops) are the only antagonistic NPCs to not be reused in Fast Food Masquerade, most likely because a realistic human corpse would be out of place in a fast food restaurant.
