| ~ Frankenstein rationalizing his crimes. |
Baron Victor Frankenstein is the main protagonist of the Hammer productions adaptations of Mary Shelly's classic 1818 novel Frankenstein. He is particularly well known for being a far less sympathetic character than that portrayed in the novel and in other film adaptations.
He was portrayed by the late Peter Cushing, who also played Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Biography[]
The Curse of Frankenstein[]
He was a British scientist who wanted to create the Frankenstein monster
Personality[]
Peter Cushing as Baron Frankenstein.
Frankenstein was a cruel, ruthless egomaniac who instead of creating his monster to find a way of creating life to benefit mankind instead simply did it prove his superiority over other scientists. He was also arrogant and foolish to the point of constantly creating monsters which were each more hideous and unstable than the last and never realizing the danger they'll pose each time. This version of Victor is also a total misogynist. He impregnates and abandons a maid in The Curse of Frankenstein and also rapes his landlady in Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.
He also had a far less respectful and friendly attitude towards others, with him even committing depraved acts such as rape. In spite of this however there is one hint that he isn't completely without a heart as he did keep his aunt and sister on a payroll after their mother had died so they wouldn't end up in poverty.
Appearance[]
Victor was a tall, slender, thin faced, aging man with short dark hair with a prominent widow's peak who had pale skin and blue eyes. He is always seen wearing very formal and elegant clothing such as suits in very bright and prominent colours.
Trivia[]
- This version of Victor is much older than his other counterparts.
