~ Barry Haydu begging for his life; his last words. |
Barry Haydu is a minor antagonist in the HBO Television Series The Sopranos.
He is a corrupt cop who is believed to have been the hitman behind the murder of Christopher Moltisanti's late father Dickie, who was also the idol of DiMeo Crime Family boss, Tony Soprano as a young boy.
He was portrayed by Tom Mason.
Biography[]
During the presumable 1960s or 1970s, Barry was a contract killer from Clifton, New Jersey who had various mob connections, especially to the DiMeo Crime Family. Around this time, Barry quit this profession and became a corrupt cop, of which he stayed as a police officer for a very long time. It is heavily implied that in 1972, Barry was the perpetrator for the death of Dickie Moltisanti, which was under the orders of mobster, Corrado "Junior" Soprano.
In 2002, Barry is at a restaurant during his retirement party from the police force. While this is happening, mob boss Tony Soprano, who had previously believed that Jilly Ruffalo was the killer of Dickie, discovers that Barry might have been the actual killer and informs this news to his protege, Christopher Moltisanti. Christopher then followed Barry home and knocked him unconscious. After Christopher handcuffed Barry to the banister of a staircase, Barry wakes up and claims he has no idea what Christopher is talking about. Barry then breaks the wood banister and attempts to run away while begging for his life, however Christopher shoots Barry twice in the head and puts the gun in Barry's hand, takes some of his money and then leaves.
