~ Bart upon returning to his family |
Bartholomew Jojo Simpson is the titular main protagonist of the "Treehouse of Horror XVI" segment "Bartificial Intelligence." After he lands in a coma and is presumed dead, Bart's family buys a robotic child, whom they end up liking better. Once Bart awakes from his coma, he is consumed with jealousy and seeks to dispose of his replacement.
Like the original, he was voiced by Nancy Cartwright.
History[]
One day, while visiting Patty and Selma's appartement, Bart tells his Lisa that he could jump from the window and land in the swimming pool. Lisa tells him that would be the stupidest thing he's ever done, and Bart responds by saying the stupidest thing he could do was jump backwards. He then promptly jumps out the window, crashing on the floor and landing him in a coma.
At the hospital, Dr. Hibbert tells the Simpsons that Bart will never recover from his coma, and tells them that they should buy a Robo-Tot, a type of robotic child, to fill the void. The family ends up purchasing a Robo-Tot named David. They end up preferring David to Bart, as David is much more obedient and kind.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Bart proves Hibbert wrong by emerging from his coma mere days later. Confused, Bart leaves the hospital and returns home, only to find Homer claiming that David is the best son he's ever had. David tells Bart they can be friends, and Bart retorts by telling David to eat his shorts, which David takes literally. A montage then ensues of Bart trying to win back the love of his family and friends but being upstaged by David.
At the zoo, Bart decides he's had enough of David and tries to push him into the lion exhibit. David's legs spring backwards, catapulting Bart into a mutant peacock exhibit. After seeing the display, Homer and Marge believe that Bart and David will never get along, so Homer drives Bart far away from Springfield and leaves him in the forest.
After walking for a long time, Bart comes along a group of abandoned robots, who take him in. While the robots sleep, Bart steals some of their parts to build himself a robot body. He then returns to the Simpsons household to kill David. David holds up Homer to protect himself, but Bart slices though both of them without batting an eye. At the end of the segment, Bart sits on a lawn chair while Homer, now with David's legs, grills burgers.
Personality[]
Appearance[]
Originally, Bart looked the same as his main show counterpart. He was a pudgy and small boy with a spiked haircut. Like many Simpsons characters, his skin was a bright yellow. He wore a red-orange t-shirt, light blue pants, and blue and white sneakers.
After upgrading himself with robotic machinery Bart looks quite different. His limbs and torso are gone, and his head rests on a hulking robot body. The bulk of the body is made of assorted pieces held together with straps and coil. His limbs, while closer to human limbs that the rest of his body, are also mismatched. They also have claws attached to the ends of them, rather than hands and feet.
