Bartholo is a minor antagonist in Gothic and one of the most important man in the Old Camp and the Colony for a while. He was a convict who later became an ore baron, the quartermaster of the castle and the Old Camp, and he oversaw the ore trade between the king and the Colony.

Biography[]

Bartholo was a convict who was taken to the Minig Colony to mine ore with the other prisoners. King Rhobar II sent the thirteen most powerful mage of Myrtana to create a magical barrier so that the prisoners could not escape the Colony. However, the barrier grew too large due to the power of The Sleeper, which disturbed the delicate balance of magic. This distracted the king's men and then a convict named Gomez with his minions led an uprising. They killed the king’s men and these convicts became the ore barons. Bartholo was one of them. The king needed the ore to continue the war against the orcs, so he made an agreement with the convicts. The convicts kept sending the ore, but in return the king also gave them what they wanted. The Old Camp, the New Camp, and the Sect Camp. After that, they split into three camps. Bartholo was the third most powerful man in the Colony. For he was the one who supervised the trade with the king. He kept checking that the convicts were receiving that from the king which they demanded for and in return sent fresh shipments of ore. He also became the quartermaster of the castle, also supervising the work of the cooks. Because of these, in addition to Gomez, Bartholo also had a huge influence in the Colony and he also stood above the king. One day an nameless convict arrived at the Colony and he also entered the Old Camp. Bartholo was friendly with him, but in part he showed off his influence a little. He was the nameless hero who built good relationships with all three camps.

The nameless hero with the water mages found a possible way to destroy the barrier, but they also needed fire mages for their plan. However, the Old Mine collapsed and a serious situation developed. The Old Camp could not mining ore without the mine and therefore the agreement with the king became void. This put the ore barons in danger, who did not want to lose thir power and ifluence over the Colony and the king. Gomez, Raven, and Bartholo were particularly vulnerable because that was the only reason they had power. Therefore, Gomez decided to capture the Free Mine. The fire magicians opposed this. Gomez then sent the ore barons to kill the fire mages. Bartholo was also involved in the murder. Meanwhile, a minion of Gomez Jackal with his men captured the Free Mine and killed all the guards of the New Camp on the area. However, news of the events soon spread and almost the entire Colony hated the ore barons. The nameless hero and his friend Gorn liberated the Free Mine and killed Jackal and his men. After that, the nameless hero focused on destroying the barrier and banish the Sleeper. However, he felt he had to punish the ore barons for their actions. Under the ruins of Xardas' very first tower, in a secret, underground location, he found a teleport rune that took him to the castle. He teleported to theFire mages' hall, where Bartholo and some guards were already waiting. The ore baron told him that the blacksmith Stone had been imprisoned, but they did not need the hero. Then everyone pulled out their weapon and the fight began. Bartholo fell with the guards.

Personality[]

Bartholo was much more polite and friendly than the other ore barons. At the same time, he liked to control people. He didn’t really like to supervise the chefs, but he controlled them all the more. He loved to play lute. When the nameless hero returned to punish the ore barons for their actions, Bartholo showed his true personality. He was almost the same as the other ore barons, only playing the polite man.

Powers and Abilities[]

Bartholo was a surprisingly good swordsman, a fast and strong figter. Although he was not an active warrior like the other ore barons, he was still one of the best swordman in the Old Camp.
