Bartley, Branson, and Blair, sometimes referred to as Triple B, are minor antagonists in Amphibia. They are a trio of newts living in Newtopia who willingly worked for King Andrias during his conquest to take over Earth.
Appearance[]
The trio are newts with the same appearance, as each wears the same black robe and goggles. They have different skin colors to distinguish them. Bartley is purple with dark purple eyebrows and a light purple lower abdomen, Branson is blue with teal eyebrows and a light blue belly, and Blair is brown with brown eyebrows and a pink belly.
Personality[]
Bartley, Branson, and Blair are all smart newts and sometimes have different ideas about how to solve a problem. Bartley and Branson often team up against Blair and tend to tell her to shut up if she says something they don't approve of. Like other high-ranking Newtopians such as Lady Olivia, they hold Marcy in high esteem and treat her with the utmost respect. They seem to believe that frogs are "under them", as evidenced by their calling the Plantar family "dirty peasants". They serve as devoted minions to Andrias, their view of him unchanged as he reveals his malicious intentions.
Biography[]
The newt trio made their debut in "Marcy at the Gates" where they were creating a strategy in a tent to deal with a Barbari-ant invasion affecting the borders of Newtopia, but they end up disagreeing profusely with each other's ideas, with Blair, in particular, being told to shut up. Marcy Wu, the town's chief ranger who was sent by the King Andrias, enters the tent and assures them she has her own plan, and that an invasion of Barbari-ants was inevitable with the warm weather. Marcy was equipped with a belt containing stinkshrooms, which she, Anne, and the Plantars are able to use on the Barbari-ant Queen and her army of ants forcing the troop to leave Newtopian grounds.
In the Christmas-themed episode "Froggy Little Christmas", the trio was shown to have stuck by King Andrias' side even though he was revealed to be a multidimensional tyrant and nearly all of the king's associates had turned on him following his reveal. They inform Andrias they had completed the Frobot army on time and under budget. Andrias is pleased by this news, but he didn't understand the customs of Christmas the newt trio was using as a theme. They give a moth-like drone prototype as a gift, and Andrias gets the idea to send the drone to Earth so he can destroy Anne himself virtually, but first, he tests the drone out on the trio. King Andrias spends the next few days trying to track down Anne with the drone, and finally on Christmas Eve that night, he's finally able to find Anne in the annual Christmas Parade with her family, thanks to Anne shouting her name out loud on her family's float. He lands the drone on a giant Santa robot, which makes the animatronic come alive, but turn rogue and try to destroy Anne and her float, but thanks to some clever thinking, Anne's able to take the drone out by piercing the tree of her float with it through the animatronic. When Andrias destroys the drone's controller in a fit of anger, the newts quickly leave the room.
The newt trio is mostly absent for the majority of Season 3, although they still made one final cameo in the epilogue for the series finale, where Andrias stepped down as ruler and remorsefully replanted the flora he destroyed during his tyranny as a life sentence for his crimes while wearing chains. The trio had also been sentenced and forced to replant the flora along with Andrias as punishment for their crimes. They could also be serving as Guards as they are not seen helping Andrias but watching him.
