Biography[]
Past[]
Basco ta Jolokia was originally a pirate recruited into the Red Pirate Gang by AkaRed to assist in the search for the Ranger Keys which contained the powers of the past 34 Super Sentai that had been cast out into space to repel the first Zangyack invasion force. After the keys were all gathered however, Basco betrayed the group by revealing their location to the Zangyack before attempting to steal the Ranger Keys. However, before he could get his hands on the chest containing the keys, AkaRed passed the chest off to Marvelous and told him to go find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe.
For his aid in helping to disband the Red Pirates, Basco was designated a privateer in the Zangyack Empire; a pirate allowed to do with he pleased in thier jurisdiction if he didn't interfere with the Zangyack. During this time, he gathered an additional twenty three Ranger Keys not collected by the Red Pirates and finds a monkey called Sally who he recruits as his right-hand woman. Thanks to Basco's betrayal, Marvelous became more distant from his future crew and gave the impression of not caring about them through a false facade.
Gokaiger[]
In 2011, Chief of Staff Damaras summons Basco to deal with the Gokaigers directly while Warz continues the conquest of Earth. When Warz discovers that Basco's ship has entered Earth orbit, Damaras explains he is a corsair allied with Zangyack but keeps the nature of Basco's activities a secret. Upon confronting Marvelous, the Gokaiger Captain immediately tries to attack him but is forced to divert his attention when Damaras sends out three giant Sugormin to attack the Gokaigers and defend his ally. After the Sugormin are defeated, Marvelous confronts Basco who reveals that he has the Ranger Keys of the extra Sentai before summoning Key Clones of DragonRanger, KingRanger, TimeFire, Shurikenger and DekaBreak with his Rapparatta trumpet to do battle with the Gokaigers. The Gokaigers defeat the Key Clones but Basco manages to overwhelm the pirates with clones of KibaRanger, MegaSilver, GaoSilver, AbareKiller, MagiShine, Bouken Silver, the Go-On Wings, Shinken Gold and Gosei Knight and defeat them before taking Marvelous' crew hostage and leaving.
Basco later contacts Marvelous and demands the Ranger Keys in exchange for his crew's lives which leads Luka to try to defect but he declines as he trusts no-one and knows the obvious trick. At the meeting, Marvelous manages to free his crew by knocking the chest in the air and causing the keys to spill out; allowing Don to transform using the ShinkenGreen key and free his crew-mates. Basco then summons his five Key Clones each to battle the Gokaigers but the Gokaigers are able to fight them off and Navi takes the chest before he can take the Ranger Keys. Impressed by Marvelous' greater fighting ability than before, Basco decides to leave for the day and then Sally unleash Liquidroid Wateru to cover thier escape.
Basco eventually appears again attacking Hyuuga in an attempt to gain the Great Powers of Gingaman and he summons three Extra Heros: MagiMother, DekaMaster and Wolzard Fire to battle the Gokaigers when they get in his way. He eventually catches up with Gai and Hyuuga as he proceeds explain that he doesn't have to be "worthy" to have the power and that he would just take it. He then use his trumpet's mysterious power to take the Greater Power by force. However, Marvelous interrupted his attack as he summons the Black Knight to battle with him. Eventually, the summoned Heroes gain an advantage over Marvelous as he gets back up. Along with his crew, they defeated MagiMother, Wolzard Fire, and DekaMaster and Gai defeats the Black Knight. However, Sally takes back all the keys except the Black Knight's and releases the Moonroid Tsukki to battle the Gokaigers.
Basco later borrowed a squad of Gormin which wreaked havoc in the city, looking for Matsuri Tatsumi (GoPink) so he could gain the greater power of the Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive. These Gormin forces were countered by Luka and Ahim, who initially thought they were Zangyack. They go to Matsuri's aid when she is attacked by Gormin while getting an injured boy into an ambulance. Covering her, the girls are attacked by copies of Rio, Mele and Zubaan. Basco appears and reveals the Gormin attacks are his doing so he can get the GoGoFive team's greater power. Matsuri surrenders herself as the ambulance leaves to safety, Basco tries to drain her power, but to no avail as it is revealed that Matsuri was not Matsuri at all, but Ahim who had used the power of the Magirangers to assume her form. Luka arrives and the girls fights against Basco's three extra warriors, but are beaten back. Luckily, the male Gokaigers arrive in time to take out the Gormin with GokaiSilver battling Zubaan while the others assume the forms of GoGoFive team to overpower the Rinjūken users. After the three Sentai warriors are defeated, Sally takes the Ranger Keys back, Basco unleashed the Fireroid Meran to deal with the Gokaigers as he takes his leave.
After Basco wiped out the Earth Defense Force, he was contacted by Goro Hoshino the former OhRed, who was willing to give him the greater powers of the Ohrangers in exchange for the location of the Gigant Horse the flagship of the Zangyack empire. Gorou however betrayed the deal and tried to blow up both him and Basco, only to find out that Basco had already summoned the Ranger Key Clones and had them sweep the warehouse they were in for the bombs. Basco then tries to rip the Greater Powers of the Ohrangers from Goro, but is stopped by Marvelous who shoots his trumpet out of his hands. A fight between the two groups began and after the Gokaigers obtained the greater powers of the Ohrangers they used it to defeat all of Basco's Ranger Key Clones. Sally once again jumps in to collect them, but is shot at by Gai who takes them instead. Facing the Gokaigers without any of his Ranger Key Clones, Basco has Sally stand aside as Marvelous is about to attack him. A red force-field blocks Marvelous' GokaiSaber and even pushes him back before Basco's eyes glow red and he transforms into his armoured form. Basco goats the Gokaigers and is attacked by Gai who he easily stops and breaks his arm before badly injuring Gai and knock him out cold. He then proceeds to attack the rest of the Gokaigers, beating them up harshly.
Whilst Marvelous struggles to remain conscious, Basco shows him three small orbs; revealing that he already has the greater powers of Changeman, Flashman, and Maskman. He tells Marvelous to keep collecting the Greater Powers as it makes things easier for him and then leaves. After Warz Gill is killed by the Gokaigers, Basco hatches a scheme to take the Greater Powers of the Megarangers. Using Sally to draw out Kenta, Basco reveals that he has planted bombs throughout Moroboshi high school and demands the Megaranger powers in exchange for the safety of the students. However, the Gokaigers manage to locate all of his bombs and contain them, foiling Basco's scheme. The Gokaigers then go off to confront Basco before he takes the Greater Powers and become the Megarangers to battle Basco and Sally. Marvelous and Gai manage to defeat Sally but, before they can finish her off, Basco gets in the way and has Sally release Soilroid Doririn and Woodroid Moririn before taking off.
Basco is later approached by Damaras who has been recently punished by Ackdos Gill for failing to protect Warz and given one final chance to defeat the Gokaigers. Angry at Basco for not killing the Gokaigers when he had the chance, Damaras demands his help in defeating them. Basco assists Damaras in his attack against the Gokaigers, taking care of the others while Damaras duels and defeats Marvelous. After beating the Gokaigers, Damaras and Basco take them all hostage except for Don who they deem insignificant. However, Basco later saves the Gokaigers and back-stabs Damaras, citing the Gokaigers as key to his plan to obtain all the Ranger Keys.
After gathering the powers of the Sun Vulcan and Fivemen, Basco takes his leave once more which leads to his bounty being reinstated by the Zangyack. Basco appears to inform the Gokaigers of the prison where Gavan is being held so he can raid the Gokai Galleon and steal the Ranger Keys whilst they are distracted. However, as Basco attempts to break into the Gokai Galleon, the Go-Busters appear to fight him off. After Yoko distracts Sally by giving her fruit to eat, depriving Basco of his backup, Basco whacks Sally on the head and flees.
After the Gokaigers gather the last of the Greater Powers, the powers of the Kakurangers, they prepare to face Basco as he still holds five of the powers they need to obtain the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. After Marvelous calls Basco to arrange a confrontation, Basco has Sally unleash two Pseudo Lifeforms on the city but the Lifeforms are easily dispatched by Kanzen GokaiOh. Blaming Sally for the defeat, Basco shoots her several times before abandoning her, causing the Gokaigers to take pity on him and bring her aboard the Gokai Galleon. However, this is all part of a scheme concocted by Basco and Sally as, when the Gokaigers aren't looking, Sally steals the chest of the Ranger Keys. However, the Gokaigers are aware this might happen and empty the chest before Sally steals it. Despite Sally's betrayal, Marvelous still offers Sally a place with the pirates and told him that Basco would eventually dispose of him when he no longer needed hwe, causing Sally to defect for real. Basco then presses a switch and activates the bomb on Sally's necklace, causing it to start beeping. Marvelous tries to remove the necklace but, before he can, the bomb explods which kills Sally and seriously injures Marvelous.
The other Gokaigers furiously attack Basco as Dairangers, Hurricanegers (with Gouraigers and Shurikenger) and Gingaman (with Black Knight), but he fights them all off in his Complete Body and steals the rest of the Ranger Keys along with the Gokai Galleon and Navi. After uniting all the Ranger Keys, Basco prepares to take possession of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe only for Navi, who is needed to unlock the treasure, to escape. Basco then creates clones of the five Gokaigers to search the ship for Navi but, when the clones return with Navi, five of them suddenly attack Basco and reveal themselves to be the actual Gokaigers who have defeated and taken the place of their clones. With only the GokaiRed clone remaining, the five Gokaigers battle Basco and the GokaiRed Key to take back Marvelous' powers. With the powers of other Red Sentai, the Gokaigers defeat the key clone and return Marvelous his powers. The Gokaigers then form the Gokai Galleon Buster and fire it at Basco but Basco is able to deflect the blast back at them.
Basco prepares to finish them off but Marvelous appears and engages Basco in a brutal one-on-one duel. During the fight, Marvelous impales Basco's and his own foot to ground and stikes Basco with his Gokai Saber to finish him off while Basco at the same time shoots Marvelous. Initially assuming Marvelous had planned to sacrifice himself and go down with him, Marvelous then reveals he was saved by the leftovers of Sally's necklace. Fatally wounded and realising his betrayal of Sally was what did him over in the end, Basco lets out a final smug grin before dying and evaporating into red smoke.
