Basil is the main antagonist of the Futurama episode "The Prisoner of Benda". He is the Chief of the Robo-Hungarian Royal Guard and cousin of Emperor Nikolai. In truth, he plotted to kill Nikolai so he could inherit the throne for himself.
He was voiced by Maurice LaMarche, who also voiced many other characters such as Lrrr, Walt, and Donbot.
Biography[]
Basil visits New New York alongside Emperor Nikolai to make a speech at the United Nations building to represent Robo-Hungary.
Interested in stealing the crown, Bender uses the Professor's Mind-Switcher invention to swap minds with Amy. That night, Bender as Amy sneaks on board of Nikolai's yacht the RMS Overkill to distract the guard. The guard is revealed to be Basil, who is unphased by Bender's seduction attempt only to be knocked out in a single punch. He ties up Basil, only to accidentally set off the alarm by throwing his pocket watch through a metal detector and is caught by Nikolai. After Nikolai expresses his interest in wanting to live life as a normal person, Bender convinces him into using the Mind-Switcher.
As Bender enjoys his new life as Nikolai when Nikolai's fiancé Princess Flavia suddenly points out a gun and makes out with Basil. They reveal that they were having an affair for 700 years and now plotted to kill him so he could inherit the throne. Bender reveals that he actually Bender by showing off his dance moves from earlier, but Basil decides to kill him anyway as he was technically in Nikolai's body.
Bender rushes across the city with Basil and Flavia chasing after him, and ends up at the United Nations building where Nikolai was to make his speech. Basil bursts into the room and addresses Bender as an imposter and prepares to kill him. Seeing this, Farnsworth in Bender's body decides to stop him as the robots in the circus are exported carnies from Robo-Hungary and is blasted by Big Bertha into the United Nations building. He and Basil get in a swordfight, but is quickly disarmed. Basil admits his enjoyment in killing brave things, to which Farnsworth says he has twenty of them before opening his chest door and the robot carnies leap out with their own chainsaw swords, who quickly tear Basil to shreds.
