Bassilus is a an antagonist from the Dungeons and Dragons video-game Baldur's Gate. He is a mad priest turned necromancer who summoned his family back from the grave as zombies and skeletons, and when confronted, he tries to kill the group but is ultimately defeated.
Biography[]
He acts as the main antagonist of the quest "Bassilus the Murderer", and it is revealed that as well as raising his family via dark arts, he is a mass murderer who kills many innocent people to add to this "family", so many in fact, that a reward of 5000 gold pieces has been put out for any heroes who wish to pursue and bring him to justice.
If a player manages to cast charm on him ,they may learn more of his origins and it is further revealed he came from Zhentil Keep, his family was murdered and this tragedy drove him insane, leading to his future as a murderous necromancer.
Bassilus is stated to be a human cleric who has opted to follow the path of Cyric, who is the chaotic evil god of murder, death, and tyranny.
