The Bat Devil is a minor antagonist in Chainsaw Man, serving as the main antagonist of the Bat Devil Arc and a minor antagonist in the Justice Devil arc. He is a hulking anthropomorphic bat devil befitting of his name with his sadistic personality, and is the person who is responsible for kidnapping Power's pet cat, Meowy. He has a penchant for eating humans to restore his vitality, and was forced into hiding from the humans due to the fact that they had hurt him and severed his right arm.
He was voiced by Kenichiro Matsuda in Japanese and by Gabe Kunda (who also voiced Gueldre Poizot in Black Clover, Delling Rembran in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Type F in SPY X FAMILY CODE: White) in the English dub.
Appearance[]
The Bat Devil appears as a tall and hulking anthropomorphic yet muscular black bat with a white mane surrounding his head and a terrifying face and a long tongue, befitting his title name as the bat devil. In addition, it was shown that his right arm was horrifically amputated because the humans did it which resulted on him having no choice but to hide himself from the humans and in order to recover himself, he need to eat some humans as a result.
Personality[]
The Bat Devil at first appears as a recluse who lived in an abandoned house located in a hill as his body was hurt by the humans. However, in the end, he is revealed to be nothing more than a petty bully who will use any other tactics such as using an innocent cat as a hostage to get what he wants.
His defining personality however, is his love to eating and hurting others for his own amusement and is truly selective on what he tries to eat, even if they were innocent people. The Bat Devil is also shown to be an awful boss towards Power as he has no hesitation to punish her by eating her cat when she ended up failing him because he brought in a human with awful stench in terms of blood for his meal.
Following his reincarnation, the Bat Devil now appears to fully behave like a feral bat, as he immediately attacks and eats those around him without any sense of care or thought. He also seems to no longer talk, though whether this is because he chooses not to or he is incapable of doing so is unknown.

Background[]

At somepoint in the past, the Bat Devil was the boyfriend of the Leech Devil. However, after having lost his arm to a human and nearly being killed in the process, the Bat Devil would later encounter Power and her pet cat Meowy and decided to held Meowy as a hostage. The Bat Devil then tell Power that if she wanted to see Meowy again, she needed to bring him a human to eat in order for the Bat Man to regenerate his severed arm. This ultimately led Power to eventually be captured by Makima and her joining the Public Safety Devil Hunters in order to find a dim-witted human to feed to the Bat Devil and save Meowy
Bat Devil Arc[]
When Denji tries to help Power to get Meowy back in order to fulfill his selfish deed trying to touch Power's breasts, it was soon revealed that Denji was betrayed and knocked unconscious so that he could be fed into the Bat Devil. As Denji encountered the Devil, the latter shared his story about his right arm being amputated by humans which causes him to hide from the public as he attempts to recover his wound by drinking Denji's blood. Successfully recovering himself by drinking Denji's blood, the Bat Devil then grew disgusted with Denji's taste and decided to go to the human world searching for palate cleanser with children being his favorite target.
When Power attempts to retrieve her cat back after helping the Bat Devil, the latter decides to break the truce by eating Meowy as a punishment because he consumed the unsavory meal that Power had brought. Feeling betrayed, Power then decides to sacrifice herself by letting the Bat Demon eating her which causes him to be nauseous and decides to move on to other people to satisfy his hunger. Fortunately, Denji manages to nearly stop his rampage by sucking his blood as Power was kidnapped from him and he tries to get her back in order to feel the breasts she had promised Denji to touch as he saved her pet cat.

Turning into Chainsaw Devil form, Denji and the Bat Demon fight with each other which caused a severe collateral damage and when an innocent bystander in the office noticed the fight, Denji then orders her to run away from the fight in order to not get eaten much to the Bat Devil's ire as he let one of his meal go away.

As a revenge for Denji letting his meal go away, the Bat Demon then decides to throw a car with a driver inside of it while attempting to eat the driver for his recovery after Denji hurted him in the battle despite his tobacco smell. Fortunately, Denji manages to kill him and rescued both Power and Meowy in the end while encountering a new kind of demon.
Justice Devil Arc[]
At some point, the Bat Devil had been reincarnated and returned to Earth, where he is first seen terrorizing and killing people in the city. As he is feasting on one of his victims, he spots Asa and Yuko, in which he immediately rushes towards them in an attempt to devour them. Before he could do so, however, he is accidentally killed by the Cockroach Devil, who in turn ends up being killed by Denji.
