Batley with his master, Dr. Jekyll.
Batley is the secondary antagonist of the horror/comedy film Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Biography[]
He is Dr. Jekyll's mute and brutish lab assistant, to which his master frequently abuses him for neglecting experiments. When Jekyll brings home Slim and Tubby and pays them to spend the night as bodyguards, Tubby decides to snoop around the house and is stalked by Batley. After Tubby discovers Jekyll's secret laboratory, Batley throttles him, but Tubby manages to escape.
The next day, when Jekyll's niece Vicky and her fiance Bruce visit the house, Jekyll transforms into Mr. Hyde in a fit of jealousy and tries to kill Bruce. Batley arrives to assist his master and holds the heroes at gunpoint. A struggle ensues and Batley is shot in the stomach, killing him.
