Batsquatch is a cryptid flying monster resembling the classic bigfoot mixed with bat-like characteristics.
Description of the creature[]
The Batsquatch is described as a flying humanoid, a cross between a bat and a Sasquatch. The following is an organized description of its characteristics:
One of the most distinctive features of the Batsquatch is its large wings, said to resemble those of a bat or pterosaur, with a wingspan of over 50 feet (15 meters) wide. It has glowing eyes, which may be red or yellow, and a face with bat or wolf-like features. Some witnesses have also reported that it emits a very loud, high-pitched scream or shriek, which is disturbing and eerie.
The Batsquatch has a dog-like snout, blue fur, sharp teeth, bird-like legs and leathery wings. It is said to be 9 feet tall and has the ability to affect automobile engines. This cryptic creature lives in the towering trees of the Pacific Northwest.
Batsquatch Reports[]
The first notable sighting of the Batsquatch took place in 1994. A teenager named Brian Canfield was driving home when his truck mysteriously stopped in a deserted area. In the vehicle's headlights, he saw the Batsquatch descending toward the middle of the road in front of him. He described it as nine feet tall, thirty feet away, with blue-tinted fur, yellowish eyes, tufted ears, and sharp, straight teeth. Later, he described it in more detail, saying:
“Its eyes were yellow and shaped like a piece of cake with pupils like a crescent moon. The mouth was quite large with white teeth, but no fangs. The face was like that of a wolf.”
The creature stared at him and then spread its wings and disappeared into the sky as quickly as it had come. After a few minutes, Brian said his truck started up and he drove home as fast as he could.
In April 2009, hikers reported a close encounter with the Batsquatch. Paul Dale Roberts posted on the Unexplained Mysteries site an encounter told to him by hikers on Mt. Shasta that sounds like Batsquatch. One of the hikers related:
“My friend and I were hiking around Mount Shasta and out of one of the crevices, out flew this big creature. I mean this thing was huge. It was as tall as a man, as stocky as Hulk Hogan and it had leathery wings. I think the wingspan was at least 50 feet from one end to the other. I was holding my camera, but froze in fear as this thing flew by. I didn't get a picture, sorry, what do you think it could be, could it have been a pterodactyl? It was flying or gliding fast, it looked like it had a bat's head. On second thought, it doesn't have the head of a pterodactyl, I just saw a picture of a pterodactyl and the heads are not similar. I would think it had the head of a bat or maybe more like a fox. The damn thing finally flew into a clump of trees and disappeared. I heard you guys might be heading back to Mt. Shasta, if you do, please keep an eye out for this thing. If you see it, you're going to get the palm on you, I'm not kidding.”
I can imagine that if you were face to face with something like that, you might be too stricken with fear to take some pictures. But with no physical evidence, it makes it hard to prove as a real encounter.
In 1994, the first of several false reports of Batsquatch was published. A report of a close encounter with Batsquatch was posted on Batsquatch.com, and was even supposed to be printed in a local newspaper. However, the validity of this report is in doubt.
Yelmidians take refuge under the shadow of a suspicious creature. Fear continues to grip the men, women and children of this town as a dark shadow looms over their heads. Suspicions linger and rumors spread as too many sightings of “a winged bat-like creature” go unexplained. It began as childish rumors after the eruption of Mount St. Helens in May 1980 and has spread to the horror of the community as the truth about Mount Rainier continues to emerge.
While preparing for a climb in early 1994, local mountaineer and liquor store owner Butch Whittaker managed to snap several photos of the beast during a rare midday flight. Butch Whittaker, an expert on paranormal activity and unexplained phenomena, considers himself lucky to experience this encounter, but adds:
“I'm not surprised. These things happen to me all the time.”
Although government officials deny the existence of any photographic evidence, our staff experts closely examined all the photos and found no reason to maintain this position.
