Battletrap is a minor antagonist in the Transformers franchise, especially Generation One. He was based on a figure from the 1987 toyline.
Marvel Comics[]
Battletrap could be seen as a background character in the Headmasters miniseries among the Decepticons who accompanied Scorponok to Nebulos. This was largely ignored in his later appearances, with the UK-exclusive story "City of Fear" depicting him as operating on Cybertron. He and fellow Duocon Flywheels led a group of Decepticons who attacked Ultra Magnus and the Sparkabots but Battletrap broke off the assault when the Autobots took refuge in the haunted city of Kalis, which was controlled by Flame's zombies.
Battletrap reappeared in "Time Wars" as part of the Decepticon Mayhem Squad, who accompanied the Autobot Wreckers to Earth as part of a joint operation to take down the time-travelling Decepticon commander Galvatron, whose presence in 1989 was causing a time rift that threatened Cybertron. Battletrap was offlined very early on in the battle as Galvatron smashed a hole in his chest.
He wasn't seen again until towards the end of the Marvel US title, making his first appearance in Issue #74 among the Transformers gathered to defend Cybertron from Unicron. Battletrap survived the battle and also an encounter with Cybertronian demons not long after who killed his companion Runabout. Battletrap came under the command of new Decepticon leader Bludgeon and accompanied him in abandoning Cybertron and invading the planet Klo, massacring the population. When the Autobots followed them, Battletrap took part in the ambush that wiped out most of their forces. However, they were taken by surprise by first the arrival of a resurrected Optimus Prime and then a group of Autobot reinforcements joining the fray. Battletrap was defeated by Prowl in the subsequent melee, fleeing the battle with the rest of the Decepticons.
