Destruction King Battobas was a major antagonist of Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, serving as the secondary antagonist of the fourth and final arc of the season.
He was the viking-themed general of the Space Pirates Balban, the leader of Battobas Majin Corps and the fourth, final and strongest of the Balban Generals to face and fight the Gingamen. A weapons and tactical specialist; Battobas was considered by Captain Zahab to be "his right arm", which suggests a longer relationship between them than the rest of the generals. He also had a long relationship with Dark Merchant Biznella, whom he hired on to be his second-in-command after Captain Zahab seized Biznella's ship, as compensation for the loss of the Steel Starbeats Biznella had sold to them earlier.
Battobas was voiced by the late Takeshi Watabe, who also previously voiced Emperor Aton, Gyodai, Lagorn and Bookback.
Biography[]
Past[]
Battobas's past is largely unknown for the most part, but it's known that he joined the Balban three thousand years ago when they were formed by Captain Zahab to destroy planets for Daitanix to eat and turn into Planet Life Jewels. Battobas always tried to impress Zahab and become his second-In-command, and had a strong rivalry with other pirate generals. The evil pirate army was successful in their mission, but was sealed away with the rest of the Balban when the original Gingamen defeated Zahab on Earth and placed a seal over them.
Gingaman[]
Battobas was freed at the beginning of the season, when the magical seal cast on Balban was removed. He and his fellow Balban generals escaped and started fighting the Gingaman and searching the ways to revive the Daitanix and destroy the Earth, just like the pirates previously did on the multiple planets in the cosmos.
Referred to as the Battobas Majin Corps, Battobas' Majins were mechanical knights themed after weapons/machines. They conducted themselves in a much more organized manner than the other Balban, functioning as a cohesive and disciplined military unit. Their Balban Extract container was an ale barrel, and they declared a "tactic change" when enlarged.
Battobas assumed command after the Balban's armies, after the treacherous Spectral Empress Iliess was sacrificed by Zahab to reawaken Daitanix's heart. This plot was successful, but Battobas's goal was to gain enough energy to fully revive the Demon Beast. Battobas frequently fought the Rangers, but his monsters frequently suffered the same defeat as his predecessors and were rarely successful. After seeing that his schemes were unsuccessful, Battobas summoned his most loyal servant and old friend Biznella from the space to aid him in their search for the energy. Especially since he and Biznella had earlier discovered that Daitanix's long period of inactivity was causing his body to decay.
Battobas's final plan was to revive Daitanix by having their loyal soldier Degius to become giant and absorb the energy from the arriving comet and use it to revive Daitanix. This scheme succeeded, even despite Degius's treason, change of heart and defection, and Balban unleashed the reptile monster upon the Earth, sending Daitanix to destroy Tokyo. However, Gingaman managed to defeat Daitanix with the help of Hyuuga and the newly redeemed Bucrates. Upon Daitanix's destruction, Battobas was later sent by Zahab to find the Earth Demon Beast to mature and empower it fully with Extreme Growth Extract. This plot was again successful, due to Battobas's cunningness and the well-constructed strategy. The viking general later was sent by Zahab to deal with the traitor Barreled Scholar Bucrates and Hyuuga. Battobas sealed Bucrates in a cave and engaged with the Black Knight in battle before Hyuuga retreated. Eventually, in the finale of the season, Battobas later succeeded in maturing the Earth Demon Beast with the Extreme Growth Extract. Although while fighting off the Gingamen and Black Knight, the evil warlord ended up being eaten alive along with the Extreme Growth Extract, by the monster.
Final Ressurection[]
Battobas was revived and killed once again, this time for the final time, by the Gingaman in the Galaxy Lights armor in Gingaman VS Megaranger.
Personality[]
Battobas is highly ruthless, intelligent, cunning and pragmatic, frequently using the original strategy to defeat his enemies, while also showing the complete and unambiguous loyalty to his master Zahab. He possessed a strong rivalry with Iliess and Bucrates, frequently not trusting his fellow Balban generals and eventually betraying them near the culmination of the season. The main trait of Battobas was unambiguously his friendship with his trusted lieutenant Biznella. While they served for the most of the series on the same side and shared their great plan of the universal conquest, but their relationship s were becoming worse and worse through the events of the series, eventually ending with Battobas betraying his best friend and leaving Biznella to die at the hands of Gingaman.
Battobas is completely and undeniably loyal to Zahab and loyally followed his master's orders. However, while he never argued and contradict the evil pirate captain, Battobas still tried to warn Zahab of his mistakes in planning and treason of some Balban generals, like Bucrates. He developed a personal hatred towards Bucrates for his treason, constantly stalking and trying to kill the former elderly advisor, while still hating Gingaman for constantly foiling his plans. Arguably, Battobas's greatest mistake was his self-confidence in his skills and power. While he is still unambiguously intelligent and calculating, but his trust in his unquestionable success eventually turned against him, especially in the finale of the season, when his giant Earth monster didn't care on what side Battobas was and consumed the general together with the Barba Extract.
