Bayagototh is the overarching antagonist of Lost In Vivo and a minor antagonist in Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion.
Biography[]
Origin[]
According to what is seen in the OST created by Ritual Wails to the Cosmic Tree, Bayagototh was born from Azathoth's wound, as a seed, it was devoured by an Uktena, causing this snake to grow to incredible proportions. In Uktena 64, Jebadiah, the protagonist, meets and defeats the Uktena, which causes the snake to spit out Bayagototh's seed, which splits into 4, one of them falling into Jebadiah, killing him instantly as it grows, According to the OST, these after growing up, will join again, completely creating Batagototh.
Lost in Vivo[]
In Lost In Vivo, Bayagototh does not appear in most of the game, but does appear at various times and in some of the game modes.
Lost Tape 3: The Cabin[]
This is a tape that can be found in one of the sectors of the main game, a laboratory, next to it, there is a note that explains that when listening to this tape, people begin to think that a fictional being called Bayagototh exists, and they want to help him.
In the tape, an unknown person appears in a cabin, where some souls tell him the story of how, in times when there was no food for them, they made a deal with Bayagototh, giving him his son to get meat to eat, the entity accepted the deal and took his son, turning him into one of his few children (this would be Specimen 8, the one seen in one of the windows of the cabin for a few moments), the souls also implore us to destroy an idol from Bayagototh, what the protagonist has to do to finish the tape.
Bayagototh appears twice in this tape, spying on the player from a distance from an upstairs window, and leaving the hut, where we see from his point of view how he quickly approaches where the player is. apparently, owning a tree that was there, which is understood since the player says how the tree was moving without wind.
Lost Tape 5 (The Wolf)[]
Although he does not have much participation in this tape, Bayagototh appears or is referenced on some occasions. The Wolf is one of the few children of Bayagototh, exactly the fifth, you can also see his birth, thanks to a sect that worships Bayagototh. In the area of the cabin, the player has to create the idol seen in tape 3, when creating it, a flash of the image of Starved Bayagoth will appear on the screen.
Story Mode[]
In the main mode of the game, the protagonist can access a room after following a few steps, where he will meet Bayagototh, there Bayagototh will ask him to give him something, if the player took the child's skull when defeating the Mermaid, they will be able to sacrifice it to Bayagototh, after this, when leaving the sewers, only screams and sirens will be heard, the sun will open covered, thus revealing that this sacrifice caused the end of that world, and chaos and horror will reign, since nothing can be done to prevent it.
Midnight Mode[]
In the Midnight Mode, Bayagototh appears as a secret boss, taking the form called "Mirage of Bayagototh the Starving Old One". Upon defeating him, Bayagototh will turn into petals and disappear thus ending Midnight. As this form is just called a mirage however, it wasn't the real one.
Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion[]
Bayagototh does not make a full appearance in Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion, but is mentioned by name by Specimen 8 in The Dollhouse DLC. Should Specimen 8 be chosen for the final Hellgate Chase, he will speak the words "Praise be, Bayagototh" as he is pulled into the gateway. Getting caught by him will present the player with a game over screen in which he states that thanks to his god, he no longer has to eat or sleep, but that Bayagototh demands more life and more rings from him.
Trivia[]
- The game's creator, Akuma Kira, said that in practically every game they make after Lost in Vivo, they will put small pieces of lore about Bayagototh into those games.
- This can also be seen, as Bayagototh is the only character to appear, be mentioned, or be referenced in more than two Akuma Kira games.
- Interestingly, Akuma Kira revealed that only Lost Tape 1 is the only one that's canon to the main Lost in Vivo game, which would mean that either Bayagototh is powerful enough to move between realities, or there are two Bayagotoths, one in the Lost In Vivo universe and another in the Lost Tape 3 universe.
