Villain Overview

The perfect fit.
~ Beatrice upon possessing Candace

The Candace Suit (AKA "Beatrice") is a semi-recurring antagonist from the Disney TV series Phineas and Ferb. She is a life-sized rubber body suit of Candace Flynn created by Buford Van Stomm that was brought to life by Heinz Doofenshmirtz's leftover-revive-inator. She appeared in the episodes "The Candace Suit" and "Attack of the Candace Suit".

She was voiced by Alex Povenmire, daughter of series co-creator, Dan Povenmire.

Biography[]

In "Doofapus", it was brought to light that Buford Van Stomm created a life-sized mold of Candace in his garage, along with all of his other friends. Buford used one of these life-sized molds to help turn Candace back to her normal self after she was liquefied by Phineas and Ferb's State-of-the-Matter Transfer Device.

In "The Candace Suit", Stacy reminded Candace of Buford's life-sized molds from last summer and this gave Candace the idea to go see him about creating a suit of herself for Linda to wear so that the mysterious force that makes her inventions disappear could be fooled into thinking that Linda is Candace, leading it to let the inventions stay, busting the boys. Candace and Stacy went to Buford's house, where he introduced them to his stockpile of Candace suits. Buford told Candace that he needed to make more than one because they kept on coming out wrong and he needed to get them just right. He showed them the first ever Candace suit he had made, which was a lifeless, wrinkled, Candace-shaped blob, sprawled out across the chair, who he named "Beatrice". Candace and Stacy found her disgusting but Buford told them not to insult Beatrice like that. Candace, Stacy, and Buford gathered up all the Candace suits and went to Phineas and Ferb's house with them but when they did, Beatrice got caught on a barrel that they passed by and got left behind.

Meanwhile, Heinz Doofenshmirtz built a leftover-revive-inator that was intended to turn rotten food fresh again. However, the setting was too high, causing leftovers to literally become sentient, creating a Potato Salad Monster. When he and Perry went out, hunting for the potato salad monster, Doofenshmirtz screwed around with his inator and accidentally fired it right over to Buford's house where it zapped Beatrice. As such, this brought Beatrice to life.

In "Attack of the Candace Suit", Beatrice, now a living creature, emerged from the bushes one sunset and attacked Jeremy, attempting to eat him and swallow him whole. After struggling for his life, Jeremy smacked her with a part of his hotdog costume and Beatrice scampered away like a wild animal. Later that night, she found Doofenshmirtz and attacked him from the trees, this time, successfully swallowing him whole and taking control of his body. Linda was out driving and saw Beatrice walking the streets alone. She mistook her for the real Candace and gave her a lift to the house. This gave Beatrice some valuable information on who she was supposed to be.

Shortly after Jeremy ran to Candace's house to panic about what just took place, Beatrice came back to the house and walked into the living room with Candace. The two girls were shocked at the sight of each other and immediately got into all out hand-to-hand brawl. Candace told Jeremy to help her knock out this clone but Jeremy had trouble telling which was the real Candace, much to the absolute offense of Candace, who could tell that Beatrice looked very different from her. The two girls brought their fight out to the backyard, where Phineas and Ferb were building a giant banana and a giant banana peeler. Phineas and Ferb had a difficult time telling who was the real Candace as well but they got there. When Beatrice was busted, she scurried for the driveway and slipped on one of Phineas and Ferb's banana peels from their last project, causing her to slip and fall, spitting out Doof in the process. Freed from Beatrice's control, Doofenshmirtz escapes and goes home while the gang learns that Beatrice is actually sentient.

Candace and The Backyard Gang chased this empty Candace suit through the streets of Danville late at night and finally, Candace tracked her down to a dark alley, where she personally wrestled with her to the death. Candace came back out of the alleyway, sadly telling The Backyard Gang that Beatrice had been murdered, much to the malaise of Buford, who loved Beatrice like a daughter. It was then revealed that this Candace they were talking to was Beatrice and that Candace was trapped inside of her.

The next day, Beatrice went about her daily life, pretending to be Candace Flynn. She helped Linda with the groceries, threatened to bust Phineas and Ferb, and went on a date with Jeremy. Candace tried to escape from the mouth of her sentient suit but Beatrice would keep her down. It wasn't until Beatrice told Jeremy that she was going to "help the boys" instead of "bust the boys" that Jeremy caught on to this being a clone. Jeremy told The Backyard Gang and they used their giant Banana Peeler to trap Beatrice and peel her off of Candace, setting her free. Baljeet was just about ready to use his flamethrower on Beatrice but Buford stopped him, saying that Beatrice was a living creature just like Candace and deserved life. Buford talked to Beatrice and learned what Beatrice really wanted from life; to be a normal human being and live a life like the one Candace was lucky enough to be given. People understood Beatrice's ambitions for life so they offered to help her out in a way that wouldn't effect Candace.

Buford had the brilliant idea to take Beatrice to The Himalayas, where she would befriend another sentient suit just like herself; Klimpaloon the Old-Timey Bathing Suit. Beatrice and Klimpaloon instantly fell in love with each other and started dating. Ferb pointed out how fitting it was that they both go out with each other, considering they already have the last name "Suit". He even went as far as to say they were "Suited" for each other.

Appearance[]

Beatrice is a life-sized rubber suit modeled to look exactly like Candace Flynn in her typical candy-cane-colored outfit. Docile, she is a lifeless and flabby pile of rubber, mottled with wrinkles, folds, and lumps. Her most distinguishing feature as a suit is her wide open mouth hole for wearers to climb into. Mobile, she flops around like a boneless blob, tripping over her tangled limbs that sprawl out every which way and due to her malleable nature, she has an ever-changing shape that changes in pretty much every position she's in. Like with all Candace suits, when consuming a person, Beatrice adapts to the shape and size of the person inside of her, essentially looking like a walking, Candace-colored, silhouette of whoever she just ate.

Personality[]

Beatrice is a lively and soulful girl, who has dreams and aspirations just like anybody else. Her goal in life is to live like a human being, preferably Candace, as she envies just how good she has it as a person. Beatrice imitates the mannerisms and personality traits of Candace Flynn so that she can better assimilate into her life. Although Beatrice's methods of taking on Candace's life were unacceptable at first, what with her eating her and pretending to be her, she eventually learned how to properly channel her zest for accumulating friends and family by going out with with Klimpaloon, her one true love.

Victims[]

  • Raccoon
  • Jeremy Johnson (attempted)
  • Heinz Doofenshmirtz
  • Candace Flynn
  • Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (attempted)
  • Ferb Fletcher (attempted)

Trivia[]

  • Although she was introduced in the reboot, the existence of a Candace suit was implied as far back as the Season 3 episode, "Doofapus", in which Buford was revealed to have life-sized molds of all of his friends, most notably one for Candace, which was evidently used as the mold for creating Beatrice.
  • Due to being a sentient suit of Candace herself, Beatrice is, in a way, the only version of Candace who is not voiced by Ashley Tisdale.
