I guess we're stuck here until that truck arrives. Which means you two better pay close attention to what I'm about to tell you. If you try anything stupid, I'll shoot you in the face. Understood?

~ Travis threatening Sbyil and the salesman, his last words.

Beau and Travis are the main antagonists of the 2024 independent crime thriller film The Last Stop In Yuma County.

They are ruthless brothers and thieves who rob a bank in Buckeye and escape with $700,000 in a Green Pinto heading towards the border. But, as they can't yet fill up their gas at a rest stop in Yuma County, Beau & Travis have to wait in a diner next door. However, they decide to hold up the diner and scope out someone with gas to kill them and steal their car.

Beau is played by Richard Brake, who also portrayed Joe Chill in Batman Begins, Enrikas Dortlich in Hannibal Rising, the Night King in Game of Thrones, Valin Hess in The Mandalorian, Frank in Barbarian and Otis Clairborne in R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned. Travis is played by Nicholas Logan, who also portrayed Rhys in Organ Trail and Alexi Ignatyev in I Care A Lot.

Biography[]

Beau & Travis are brothers-in-crime who have recently robbed a bank in Buckeye, Arizona and escaped with $700,000 in a green Pinto with a damaged rear end. Seeking to escape to Mexico and lay low, they make a stop for gas at the rest stop in Yuma County. Vernon, the gas station attendant, explains that they have no gas and since the fuel truck hasn't arrived and there's no gas stop for the next 100 miles, they might as well wait in the diner next door, which they decide to do. However, Beau argues they must stay in the car until the fuel truck arrives, with Travis angrily protesting and going in the diner anyways, with Beau irritably following after him. They both order some coffee and then sit down.

They then argue on what to do if the fuel truck doesn't arrive soon. Meanwhile, when Charlotte and the knife salesman suspect the two men of being the bank robbers from Buckeye, Beau immediately gets suspicious of them. However, when Charlotte attempts to use the phone to call for help, Beau & Travis make their move, with Beau forcing Charlotte at gunpoint to hang up while Travis threatens the salesman at gunpoint. Beau then forces Charlotte to admit that she knows he and Travis are the Buckeye bank robbers before strangling her which prompts the salesman to protest which Travis quickly shuts down.

Beau then cuts the phone line before forcing Charlotte to sit next to the salesman while Travis keeps a lookout. He then makes it clear that he and Travis would usually slit their throats and steal their cars but figures they don't have any gas either, and asks if Vernon or their cook have gas so they can kill them and steal their cars, which Charlotte denies. So, Beau forces Charlotte to continue her day as normal while checking if any incoming customers have gas, while he forces the salesman to continue silently playing with his puzzle. Beau & Travis then sit down to keep an eye on them.

Beau & Travis then argue about their next steps, with Travis insisting they have to steal someone's car either way because if the salesman recognized the green Pinto, so will the border patrol. He then goes to use the bathroom, but Beau also tells him to check if Charlotte was lying about Vernon not having a car and see if anyone's staying in the motel to see who they can forcibly steal a car from, while also threatening to fully strangle Charlotte if she was lying. Travis goes and checks and finds out that she wasn't lying, as Vernon didn't have a car, while also finding that no one was staying at the motel, which he angrily tells Beau when he gets back.

Meanwhile, a younger couple, Miles and Sybil, arrive, along with a local ranger Pete who Beau finds out has gas. With this news exciting him, he puts on a song on the jukebox before he and Travis take Charlotte hostage and threaten everyone else in the diner and try to force Pete to give up his keys. This triggers a Mexican standoff of sorts, during which Miles, the stupid kid that he is, attempts to side with the robbers and instantly antagonizes them.

Soon enough, a shootout erupts in which Beau and Travis shoot and kill most of the customers; namely Charlotte, the elderly couple and Pete, with Beau getting shot in the neck while Travis is unscathed, which he is as surprised as he is happy about, which is cut short when he quickly threatens to kill both Sybil and the salesman before Vernon comes in and guns him down with a shotgun, killing Travis. However, as Beau is still alive, Beau shoots Vernon multiple times until he dies, before Beau himself bleeds to death. However, their money from Buckeye drives the salesman to go on a murderous rampage to steal the money and get away, with him killing Sybil, a young couple, and the Sheriff, while also abandoning an infant.

Personality[]

Both Beau and Travis are absolutely ruthless, having no moral qualms about protecting their loot. Beau himself is particularly terrifying, being perfectly able to remain calm and collected with a low tone of voice, angrily shouting at Charlotte once. Beau is also very psychopathic, as he has no remorse for his actions or compassion for his victims while being able to feign an affable personality with other customers until revealing his true colors to everyone in the diner by the end. Beau is also pretty sadistic, as he shows himself to take a certain delight in strangling Charlotte, even giving a particularly creepy smile when holding Charlotte hostage.

Despite a bit more dimwitted compared to Beau, Travis himself is a savage and vicious sociopath, being amused by Beau strangling Charlotte and having no qualms about threatening a girl or an elderly man. Travis also stills shows himself to be intelligent, insisting to forcefully steal someone's car, rationalizing that if the customers recognized their Pinto, so will border patrol. And suprisingly, Travis shows himself to be more charismatic than the older Beau, being able to appear as an outgoing and friendly customer to Charlotte and Vernon until he also reveals himself to be much worse.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, the character of Beau was supposed to be a lot less ruthless and a lot more inexperienced in crime and theft. However, as Brake and the director Francis Galluppi talked, they revised Beau to be terrifying as he is in the film.
