Beelzebub was a demon, Prince of Hell, and an antagonist in Hellboy.
Beelzebub was once an angel of God, who rebelled alongside Satan and was cast down to Hell. He presumably took part in the subjugation of the Watchers, and would eventually become a Prince of Hell.
The end of Hell[]
After the death of Satan, and many other high ranking demon such as Astaroth, Beelzebub and the remaining high-ranking demons gathered at his castle.
Beelzebub proposed to call forth Pluto from the pit so he may take Satan's place to re-establish order. He explained how they had never forgotten him and that he was now their only hope, in order to kill Hellboy (who had Satan) and put the rampaging slave demons back in line.
This plan was never carried out, as Hellboy, as the "Beast of the Apocalypse", arrived on the scene, deciding to wipe out the remaining Demon-lords. Beelzebub witnessed a Hellboy defeat both Leviathan and Behemoth (demon), and the destroyed the prince's castle with lighting.
Beelzebub and the other demon lords were then killed by countless slave demons who has followed Hellboy, ending their hold over Hell once and for all.

Other demons, such as Shax and Rumael, never trusted Beelzebub fully.
