The Beetle Canth is the minor antagonist of Choudenshi Bioman, appearing in Episode 4 as a major antagonist. He is the rhinoceros beetle-like Mecha Gigan of Neo Empire Gear, assisting Mason and Mettzler. He was sent by Doctor Man after a failure by Mason and Mettzler to take over a super-energy plant with Mecha-Humans.
Biography[]
In the fourth episode Doctor Man created a new plan of taking over the world. He sent a Mecha-Human, disguised as a scientist to the super-energy plant, and once he revealed himself as a Mecha-Human, the lab exploded. It was impossible for outsiders to enter the complex, yet some Gear managed to infiltrate it At the Neogrrad, Mason informed Doctor Man that the Mecha-Human plan was successful and Doctor Man praised Mason for the successful plan. Farrah and Monster were mad that Doctor Man praised Mason and Man became angry and electrocuted Monster with his zapper, telling him that he had to start the project due to their failures. Doctor Man explained they would create more and more Mecha-Humans to create panic in Japan.
Pigeon Informant 001 informed Shirou, the BioRed of a town with strange events happening. Shirou travelled to the small town in the outskirts of Tokyo and asked a local policeman if there are any strange events going on. The policeman replied "no", and they parted ways. Later, the policeman informed Mason that a Bioman had arrived to the town and Mason questioned how did they know that something is wrong with the town. Shirou asked his pigeon informant if there are any more details, but before it could answer, it was killed by an electric blast by Mettzler, who revealed himself from a puddle of green slime. Mechaclones revealed themselves, and Shirou transformed into Red1 to fight them. Destroying the Mechaclones easily, Mettzler proved to be too big of a threat for Red1 to handle alone. The other Biomen were on patrol when they detected Red1 was in trouble, and heads to his location to help.
Shirou mourned his animal informant and blamed himself for his death. Biomen vowed to avenge the pigeon and remembered what he said. The heroes remembered that the pigeon mentioned a mysterious building, they split up to find it. Shirou runs into the same policeman as before, and the policeman reveals himself as a Mecha-Human and attacked him. Shirou destroyed it and warned his teammates. As he warned them, they were attacked by Mecha-Humans as well, who exploded in a suicide attack.
At a super-energy plant, humans were slowly replaced by Mecha-Human doppelgangers. Shirou investigated a building, and found a feather. A pigeon informed it belonged to 001. Investigating further, Shirou destroyed some Mechaclones, and entered the building, finding a large amount of dormant Mecha-Humans. Encountering Mason, Shirou transformed and fought the general of Gear. Mason announced it is too late, as the Mecha-Humans have been already infiltrated the super-energy plant. Running off, Red1 and the Biomen headed off to the energy plant.
Arriving there, Shingo used his Super Electron Scope and Blue3 used his Super Electron Ear to pick out Mecha-Humans from the crowd and destroyed them. Mettzler revealed himself alongside an army of Mechaclones and they fought the Biomen. Mettzler used his Mecha Change Ghost ability to turn invisible, giving the Biomen trouble. Shingo and Ryuuta, the Blue2 used their abilities to find him, and Red1 shoot Mettzler with his gun. They finished him off with a Bio Kick attack.
Doctor Man then sent out Beetle Canth to crush the Biomen, and Shirou summoned the BioDragon. Biomen jumped in, and launched the BioJets. After destroying a group of Mirage Fighters, they form the BioRobo to fight Beetle Canth. With the Super Maser, the BioRobo cuts off Beetle Canth's horn and finish it off with a Chainsaw Cutter attack.
