Belezaar is the secondary antagonist of the TurboGrafx CD video game Beyond Shadowgate.
Appearance[]
When posing as a human, Belezaar resembled a man with tan skin, red clothes, and black hair. In his true form, Belezaar takes the form of a humanoid snake with arms, no hair, green scales, yellow eyes, fangs of the same, and a variation of his human attire modified for his body.
Powers and Skills[]
Belezaar has the ability to transform from a snake man to a human and back again along with being able to cast lightning and chant summoning spells.
Biography[]
Having murdered King Aronde, Belezaar lies about being hired by his son to kill him so that he can be arrested and scheduled to be decaptated for a crime he did not commit. Belezaar also has random people busted and taken to the dungeon with varying circumstances such as a couple victims having died, one man being tortured, a shapeshifter at risk of dying, and not even a minotaur being safe from imprisonment. After Prince Erik manages to save several of the prisoners, he escapes the castle dungeon through a hidden passage. After Erik arrived in town, he found that Belezaar kidnapped his sister Elizabeth and sent henchmen across the country with a handful asking about Shadowgate while others terrorize the country, leading to it becoming a fatal place.
As Erik travelled the country, he witnesses monsters from Belazaar burning a village with full intent to kill all the villagers, forcing him to fight them to stop the assault and save the survivors from being killed. Afterwards, the ghost of Erik's father warns him that Belezaar left the city with Elizabeth and he needs to save her. Years prior to the game, Belezaar had the wizard Lakmir frozen cold and unmovable with a wraith being placed to look after his motionless body to ensure no one can save him. After Erik arrives at Shadowgate, he takes a ride from an undead ferryman in an attempt to save his sister.
However, Belezaar anticipated this and shocked him unconscious in order to tie him up not only to prevent him from interfering with his plans but also to make him watch as he attempts to sacrifice his sister Elizabeth to the Warlock Lord and subsequently kill off humanity. Belezaar proceeds to perform a ritual to summon the warlock lord and asks him to devour Princess Elizabeth, but the Warlock Lord burns him to death first. Afterwards, Aronde's spirit frees his son so he can destroy the Warlock Lord and save his sister.
After the defeat of the Warlock Lord, Erik escapes with his sister with Lakmir sealing up Shadowgate afterwards. The next step being to lead the soldiers still loyal to King Aronde kill all the demons Belezaar summoned to terrorize the land then work to restore the kingdom to its former glory before Belezaar murdered the king.
