Helen Park: And now the training's complete. We just need to give the subject a name—
Russell Adler: Bell.
~ Helen Park and Russell Adler discussing Bell's codename.
On your feet, comrade. Ready for a little retribution?
~ Perseus to Bell at Duga-2 (non-canon).

Agent Bell is the main protagonist of the 2020 first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and a minor character being indirectly mentioned in it's sequel Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Originally Perseus' second-in-command, they were shot and left for dead by Arash Kadivar in Turkey. Surviving due to the arrival of Russell Adler, they were brainwashed by the CIA and MI6 to help them stop Perseus and his plans.

Biography[]

Background[]

Sometime before 1978, Bell joined the Perseus Spy Network and eventually became it's second-in-command. He had an unidentified role in the Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979. He was also present in a meeting with Perseus, Arash Kadivar, Vladimir Rudnik, Anton Volkov, Robert Aldrich and Qasim Javadi sometime during 1980 regarding their plan to destroy Europe using Operation Greenlight nukes and framing the United States.

Capture and Brainwashing[]

On January 13th, 1981 Bell accompanied Arash to an airfield in Afghanistan, and was left for dead by Kadivar out of jealousy of their closeness to Perseus. Minutes later, after Arash's death, Russell Adler arrived to sweep for survivors and found Bell, bleeding profusely. Adler rescued them and brought the Perseus agent to Safehouse E9 for brainwashing to help assassinate Perseus.

In February, Bell and the rest traveled to Berlin to locate Volkov. Bell, Helen Park and Eleazar "Lazar" Azoulay infiltrated Franz Kraus's home in order to place a tracker inside his briefcase, but was soon discovered and knocked out upon discovering Greta Keller. Bell is then brought into a warehouse where he is interrogated by Volkov, Kraus and determinately Lukas Richter. If Bell is hostile, Greta is killed, however, if they are neutral, Greta is spared. Whichever the option chosen, Adler and the rest of the team burst through the roof and take out multiple members of the Russian Mafia.

Bell then chases Volkov into a room and holds him at gunpoint. If spared, Volkov will be interrogated regarding Perseus, if killed, then intel won't be taken. Days later, they and Frank Woods travel to an undisclosed Russian training facility in the Soviet Union to find information regarding Perseus. While their, Bell discovered Jason Hudson's involvement in Operation Greenlight and multiple missing nukes. After escaping the facility, Woods goes to confront Hudson while Bell returns to the safehouse to inform the rest of the team.

On March 9th, Bell and Adler enter the KGB headquarters in Moscow and gather records involving Nikita Dragovich to recover the data from his mainframe. Afterwards, they and Dimitri Belikov shoot their way out of the KGB headquarters and back to the safehouse for their final operation. On March 13th, they travel to Cuba to assassinate Perseus and rescue a Theodore Hastings, but were unsuccessful, resulting in the deaths of either Park or Lazar.

After the botched operation, Bell is brought back to the safehouse were he is strapped onto a gurrny and interrogated by Adler. He is then unbrainwashed through torture and forced to relive Adler 's memories from 1968. After being unbrainwashed, Bell confronted Adler, confused and dazed. Adler reassured Bell, and asked him were Perseus and the Operation Greenlight nukes were.

Fate[]

Canon[]

On March 15th, Bell told the truth and took the CIA to the Solovetsky Islands. After destroying the nuke launchers and defeating the Perseus Spy Network, Adler brought Bell to a cliff side after being congratulated by the rest of the team. After Adler congratulated them, they both simultaneously pulled out their pistols and shot each other. Unfortunately, however, Adler was quicker and ended up killing Bell.

Non-Canon[]

On March 15th, Bell lied and told the CIA operatives that Perseus was in Khabarobsk Krai. Upon being confronted by Woods, Bell stated their reasoning and signaled for the rest of the Perseus Spy Network to ambush them, which in turn betraying his former teammates and rejoining the Perseus Spy Network. Bell and Perseus then went after the rest and a wounded Adler, and killed Park/Lazar, Alexander Mason and Woods. Bell then went inside the building and finally confronted Adler. And then he/she will kill Adler as revenge for brainwashing him/her by shooting him without hesitation or when Adler asks Bell a lighter and then he tried to kill him/her but Bell overpowers Adler and then kill him. After his death, Bell launched the nukes on the European cities, framing the United States.

Black Ops 6[]

In February of 1991, after finding out Jane Harrow as the mole, William "Case" Calderon asked Adler about MKUltra and their test subjects. Adler, is response stated that he didn't need to know.

Trivia[]

  • If Bell's gender is assigned as non-binary or classified, they will have no voice lines when injured.
  • It was initially believed that Bell was the multiplayer operative Harry Stone, but their modes simply recycled for the character.
  • In Black Ops 6, Adler will reference Bell when turning a zombie friendly with the brain rot modifier.
