Bella and Rita are a pair of Amazonian women who were awoken by Professor Monster and major antagonists in the 1978 Tokusatsu series Spider-Man.
Bella is portrayed by Tina Margo while Rita is portrayed by Rie Rinehart.
Biography[]
Having lived ages ago, Bella and Rita's mummified bodies were recovered in Brazil and loaned to a museum in Japan for study. Hearing of the two mummies, Professor Monster sent Amazoness to steal them so they could be examined by him. After Amazoness brought both their mummified bodies to him, Professor Monster discovered that they had been so well preserved that he could revive them, modifying them to give them super strength. After the Professor performed the operation to revive both of them, he had Amazoness bring their bodies out to a secluded area and place them in coffins dressed as nuns so they would be able to acclimate once they awoke. Spider-Man soon discovered the bodies of the two amazons after being told about them by a young boy named Shinichi, but right after he got there Bella and Rita rose up and began chasing after him. However, Spider-Man managed to get Shinichi to safety and defeat the Machine Bem Amazoness had sent after him.
With Amazoness' continuous failures against Spider-Man, Bella and Rita grew closer to Professor Monster as Amazoness began to fall out of favor with the Iron Cross Army leader. On order of Professor Monster, Bella and Rita leaked the location of several Iron Cross Army secret bases to Interpol so Spider-Man would attack them and Amazoness would get a chance to fight him again, but each time Spider-Man eluded her. Professor Monster would also begin work on a plan to bombard the Earth with missiles after retreating into space in a rocket, which was outfitted with three seats for himself and Bella and Rita. Amazoness meanwhile was given one last chance to defeat Spider-Man, with Professor Monster promising her a seat if she succeeded.
Amazoness returned from her mission declaring she had killed Spider-Man, though it soon turned out that Spider-Man had survived when he assaulted their secret headquarters. Furious, Professor Monster ordered Bella and Rita to execute Amazoness for her failure, though as a dying act of spite Amazoness stole the rocket and flew off in it before any of them could board it. After Spider-Man destroyed the rocket, Bella and Rita were sent out alongside an army of Ninders to face Spider-Man in a final battle. The two were both separately defeated by Spider-Man, allowing him to make his way to Professor Monster.
