Belphalos is a major antagonist from the Roblox game Deepwoken.
He was a member of The Ministry responsible for the assassination of the King of Etrea, allowing his superiors to control the nation.
Biography[]
Stars Above, and the Blade between[]
At some point in time, Belphalos murdered an Etrean woman named Rali, a member of Etrea's fourth guard of Blade Initiates. He came to her friend, Tavi Ytreshi, and convinced him it was due to the King's actions that she, along with many other Etreans, died. As the King was due to travel to Markor for diplomacy with The Central Authority, a team of four bodyguards were selected, Tavi among them. Belphalos gifted him with the Queensblade, a Depths Relic that would ensure those who were killed by it stayed in the Depths, promising to meat him again on 'the night of the last star.' The night before the group were to set sail, Belphalos teleported behind Tavi as he entered his quarters, inquiring his health and asking him if he remembered the procedure. He promised Rali would be at peace with the King's death, but Tavi, still suspicious of the Ministry agent, requested he did not disrespect her name by using it. Belphalos reminded him that he was Tavi's ally and responsible for this opportunity, warning him not to make an enemy of him, before performing the final ritual needed to ensure the blade would seal the King in the Depths, before retreating to the window and teleporting away.
Later, Tavi having successfully killed the King, Belphalos appears behind him, congratulating him, only to refer to him as a puppet and mockingly asking him if the King was responsible for Rali's death, Tavi suddenly realising he had been tricked. He then told him that his fellow guards knew he had killed the King, would in turn kill him and the world would only remember him as a murderer. Belphalos offered him an alternative, in which he would drown the ship and its crew, and bring Tavi to a place free from his burdens where nobody would find him. Distraught and confused, Tavi accepted, Belpahlos wishing him good luck, putting a blindfold on, sending him away and sinking the ship.
Legacy[]
As Belphalos promised, the people of Etrea never found out what happened to their King, believing him still alive but lost to the Voidsea. With the King dead, the Ministry's Fourth Prophet, Zi'eer, took over as Lord Regent of the kingdom and brainwashed its people, allowing him to begin his plans to start another Great Drowning. The King never arriving to Markor likely played a part in the Authority moving to the East, starting a bloody war with no end in sight.
Trivia[]
- Due to Belphalos putting on a blindfold in his final appearance, some have speculated he later became the body that sits in the Etris palace, with Zi'eer controlling him for afar.
- However, while Belphalos had purple eyes, the Lord Regent's form has red eyes.
