Biography[]

Belzebuth and Nicole

Belzebuth extract Nicole's essence

Five years prior to the events of the series, Belzebuth was contacted by Gilles de Rais under the fake identity of Martinet, who convinced him to reawaken the ancient dragon known as Bahamut in order to rule over the world, into the false conviction that if the vessel of the Trascendent Key was someone with his same essence, Bahamut would follow his orders.

With this belief, Belzebuth kidnapped a innocent angel known as Nicole, painfully extracting her essence and using it along with his own to create Amira, a half-angel and half-demon girl that would be able to contain inside herself both halves of the Trascendent Key. After this, he remained mostly in the background in order to not draw too much attention to himself, leaving to Martinet the duty to make sure everything went as planned.

Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis[]

Belzebuth with blue flames

Belzebuth attacks Azazel

After Azazel is defeated in his unsuccessful attempt in retriving Amira and is haunted down by several angels, Belzebuth intercepts him and quickly defeats him, killing all of the angels around too in order to prevent them from telling anyone of his presence. When Azazel asks him about what he is planning to do, Belzebuth responds that what he wants is Judgement Day, leaving him behind thinking he is dead. Soon after, Belzebuth goes to Lord Lucifer to inform him that Azazel failed to retrive the God Key, and tells him that he will take care of it. Despite his suspictions, Lucifer agrees, and Belzebuth promises that, on top of Amira's capture, he will also revive Satan.

As Amira gets closer to Helheim and the seal around the Bahamut starts to get weaker, the god's army starts to prepare to fight back against the dragon as Belzebuth rallies up his fellow demons, telling them that now is their chance to annihilate the gods once and for all to rule over everything, with Lucifer watching the scene and wandering what Belzebuth is planning.

Once Amira, Favaro Leone and Kaisar Lidfald arrives at Helheim, supposedly where the mother of the former is, they are instead welcomed by Belzebuth and Martinet. The two reveals to Amira her true origins, with Martinet even pointing out that Belzebuth is basically his real father, and then makes her mother Nicole appears before her, only to let her die in front of her own daughter. As planned by the two, this sends Amira into a desperate state, making the God Key within her fuse with the Demon Key hidden in Helheim and turning her into the Trascendent Key required to free the Bahamut.

Now with the necessary pieces to free Bahamut, Belzebuth and Martinet starts to go towards Abos, the place in which the dragon is sealed, in order to use the Trascendent Key that is now Amira to reawaken it. Kaisar, Rita, Bacchus and the still alive Azazel attempt to stop them, with the latter engaging in a hard battle again Belzebuth. However, their efforts are unsuccessful and in the end, thanks to Gilles' schemes, everything goes as planned and the Trascendent Key fuses with Bahamut, breaking the seal that contained it for thousands of years.

Seeing that Bahamut is finally reawakened, Belzebuth rejoices as he sees both gods and demons arriving in order to fight the ancient beast. Belzebuth announce to the gods that the war between them is now over as he plans to use the dragon to kill them all, and tells to the demons that he will now stand on top of them all, planning to rule the world with an iron fist and ordering the Bahamut to use his powers against the gods. Much to his surprise, however, the dragon doesn't obey him and instead attacks him, blasting him away and fatally wounding him as he falls down from his own flying fortress.

While the armies of gods and demons fight against Bahamut and Kaisar and Rita confronts Gilles, Belzebuth lies on the ground, his lower body completely destroyed. In a dying state, he understands that Martinet lied to him when he told him that if Amira, a being created with his own essence, wouuld become the host of the Trascendent Key than Bahamut would have obeyed him. Cursing at Martinet for tricking him, he is finally killed by Azazel who stabs him throught the mouth as payback for when he wounded him previously.

Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul[]

Despite being dead and never appearing, his actions still had a big impact in the world given his contribution in the reawakening of Bahamut. During the battle against the dragon, several gods and demons died in an attempt to stop it, causing a severe imbalance in the world. His actions are even brought up directly by Lucifer, as a reminder of what happens when someone seeks a power beyond their own understanding.
