Ben Abner is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Mayhem". He is a member of the New York Terrorist Cell charged with assassinating an unnamed government official in hospital.
He is portrayed by Adoni Maropis.
Biography[]
Background[]
Almost nothing is known about Abner except that he worked as a paramedic and was chosen to plant the bomb in the hospital. It's unclear whether "Ben Abner" is even his real name.
Mayhem[]
After another operative detonates a bomb under a government SUV in the previous episode, Abner arrives on the scene. He takes agents Aaron Hotchner and Kate Joyner to hospital before disappearing. The BAU are able to figure out that the cell intend to detonate a bomb in the hospital, and that the missing Abner is the bomber.
Meanwhile, Abner returns with the bomb. He proceeds to the garage, shooting and killing four Secret Service agents on the way, before loading the bomb into his ambulance. Agent Derek Morgan follows him and steals the ambulance with the bomb still inside, foiling the plot. Abner detonates the bomb anyway, but Morgan bails out and survives. Believing him dead, Abner commits suicide by slitting his own throat.
