Biography[]

Past[]

Not much is known about his early life. According to Dr. Emil Hartman, Mott faced a difficult and difficult childhood, which led him to develop problems with low self-esteem and the need to constantly seek the approval of a father figure. At some point, Mott was arrested for possession of illegal firearms, but currently began working for Hartman at Cauldron Lake Lodge, becoming his personal henchman, unaware that Hartman would only take advantage of him to accomplish his goals without any problem.

Bright Falls[]

When Jake Fischer was trying to buy medicine at the general store, Mott appears visiting the place, looking for supplies.

Alan Wake[]

In the present day, Mott, under the orders of his boss, Dr. Emil Hartman, followed Alan Wake and his wife as they arrived at Bright Falls. During his trip, Mott, not being impressed by the writer, attempted to provoke him into a fight, but was unsuccessful. Hours later, after checking all the rental cabins for the couple, Mott found his car parked at the end of the road next to Lake Cauldron, but with no sign of the two. By this time, the Wakes had already been captured by the Dark Presence that inhabited the lake.

A week after Alan escaped from the lake and was taken to Bright Falls Station, Mott contacted him, lying to him about being Alice's kidnapper (who was actually still trapped in Lake Cauldron), using recordings of an audio tape and leaving Alice's driver's license in an old car in an attempt to convince him. He later ordered Alan to meet him alone at the Lovers' Peak lookout at night, and also warned him not to tell the authorities anything. That night, as Alan headed to the site, the writer was surrounded and nearly killed by a group of Taken before Mott appeared, saving him, and quickly realized that the man was the kidnapper, but was forced to team up. with him to confront the Taken and reach the rendezvous point, with Alan using flares and his flashlight to weaken the Taken, while Mott killed them with his revolver.

After a long fight, Mott threatened Alan Wake about giving him the complete Departure manuscript or he would kill his wife Alice, but was hit by him, causing the two to fall from the platform, and he dropped his revolver. but he survived and escaped into the forest. An hour later, Mott calls Alan Wake again, only to give him a two-day limit to finish his manuscript in an attempt to show his control over the situation, despite Alan telling him he needed at least a week, and I tell him their new meeting point, the Bright Falls Coal Mine Museum, to which Alan ends up accepting it, having no other option. The next morning, Mott, still in Elderwood National Park, encountered Agent Nightingale, who had gone to the park in search of Alan Wake. Although at first the agent simply wanted to know if he knew anything about the writer, Mott's hostility towards Nightingale soon caused the situation to escalate before Mott fled once again.

Unfortunately for Mott, Dr. Hartman was furious at his incompetence, knowing full well that, under such pressure, Alan Wake could drastically derail his plans in just two days, ultimately opting to capture him. After Alan waited for his wife's supposed "kidnapper" for hours at the agreed upon location, Mott, for the third time, contacted the writer and told him that there was a change of plans, since now they would have to meet again at the new location. meeting, the Mirror Peak viewpoint. While Mott waited for the writer, he was found and tortured by the Dark Presence (in the guise of Barbara Jagger). And when Alan finally reached the lookout, he heard Mott beg for his life and at the same time confess that he never had Alice. Suddenly, a large tornado appeared and dragged Mott through the air, destroying him, while Alan fell into the lake, where he was later rescued by Hartman and taken to the Cauldron Lake Lodge.

Psycho Thriller[]

In the comic, one day after the events of Bright Falls, Ben Mott returned, now Possessed, and found Nurse Sinclair to kill her but was first intervened by his former boss, Dr. Hartman. Despite being a Taken, Mott still retained some of his personality, including his need for Hartman's approval, which instead manifested as a desire to kill him. However, the doctor reminded him that he had failed to obtain the manuscript or capture Alan Wake, causing Mott to recoil in pain, allowing him and Sinclair to take shelter again. Inside a lodge, Hartman and Sinclair encountered Rudolf Lane, who was uncontrollably painting pictures depicting past and future events, one of them being Mott killing Hartman. In an attempt to cheat fate, Hartman gave Lane his sweater, causing Mott to attack and kill him while Emil Hartman and Sinclair escaped.

Hartman, in an attempt to survive, opted to take care of his former henchman once and for all. The Possessed Mott found his former boss next to the sundial in the lodge and was ready to kill him; However, the doctor told Mott that he had made him proud and gave him one last task: to kneel before him. Mott obeyed, giving Hartman the opportunity to fire a flare at him, weakening him before the agents opened fire, killing Ben Mott and the other Taken, forever.
