~ Benicio Fuentes to Gus Fring about Jesse Pinkman. |
Benicio Fuentes is a minor antagonist in the crime drama series Breaking Bad. He is the lead chemist of the Cartel.
He was portrayed by Carlo Rota.
Biography[]
Benicio Fuentes appears only in the Season 4 episode "Salud", as the main cook of the Cartel. Gus Fring brings Jesse Pinkman to Mexico to teach Fuentes and his team how to cook the "Blue Sky" methamphetamine which he and Walter White produced. Fuentes can speak both Spanish and English, although he only speaks Spanish until Jesse insults him in English. He looks down upon Jesse for his lack of basic chemistry knowledge, such as how to synthesize phenylacetic acid, while Jesse criticizes his disregard for the laboratory's unsanitary environment, but manages to learn the formula. When Don Eladio decides Jesse would stay in the Cartel and replace Fuentes as the main cook, Fuentes is offended that he, with his college degrees and expertise, could be surpassed by someone like Jesse.
Fuentes is killed along with the rest of the Cartel in Mexico, via drinking the tequila that was poisoned by Gus.
