Benitez is a secondary antagonist in the 1991 action film The Taking of Beverly Hills.
He was portrayed by Branscombe Richmond.
Biography[]
Benitez is a thug hired by Robert Masterson to aid in his heist of Beverly Hills. He is the one who stages the chemical spill by driving the 18-wheeler and causing the tanker trailer to explode. It all causes the town to evacuate, but unknown to them however, retired football quarterback Boomer Hayes was left behind. And he manages to fight them alongside Kevlin, one of the ex-cops who turned on the foes after the cop leader, Varney, kills the mayor. Benitez goes after the duo by driving a SWAT tank after them, but Boomer tricks him into driving into a swimming pool, trapping and disabling it. He gets out and is seen later chasing them by using machine guns and later a flamethrower in a car chase which results in Boomer and Kevlin crashing into the police station. Assuming they're both dead, Benitez goes on to aid in the heist. The duo survives however and fights the cops again. Benitez fires at them, even hitting Kevlin (who was wearing a bulletproof vest, with both playing dead. Thinking he killed them for sure this time, Varney leaves a bomb just to be sure, but Boomer throws the bomb back to Varney while he is driving away, which explodes and kills him. Benitez tries to radio for him but is unable to, figuring out they survived. He catches up to them, ready to fight. But Boomer quickly kills him by throwing a rock at his head, causing fatal head trauma.
