Biography[]
past[]
About Berengar's future before he became a witcher. After he became a witcher, he was not happy with it, not hiding his disgust towards them, where he claims that they are to blame for becoming a mutated freak who has no chance for a normal life in society. When he was still in Kaer, morhen wanted to forge a sword called Tor'haerne in a cave, but in this cave lived a chort, despite the fight with the monster, he lost and thus lost the blueprint for creating the sword, forcing him to withdraw. Filled with his hatred for his fate, Berengar left Kear morhen many times and traveled the world, though sometimes to his glimmer, but eventually left it permanently.
Before the Salamander attack on Kaer morhen Berengar somewhere in the outskirts took a contract from the Reverend for barghests and Hellhounds that terrorize the outskirts of the Vizima village after taking the quest he wrote many notes on the observation of the Hellhound, but eventually he became a coward and escaped from the outskirts by alienating all the inhabitants of this village to other witchers.
some time later he was taken by members of the criminal organization Salamanders who attempted to use him to locate Kear morhen so they could steal the witcher mutations to create an army of mutants. He eluded them many times from the Salamander, but he was always caught before, for example, when he took over a contract from Kalkstein regarding a tower in the swamp. However, after some time, he began to get along with Azar Javed and the Professor, and after revealing information about Kear morhen, he decided to take over another quest, this time it was about finding a boy named Alvin who has magical abilities he decided to find only for his own gain.
Initially, Berengar wanted to create Raven's Armor, so he decided on the elements to create this armor, however, he withheld the armor to resolve a local dispute between the Vodyanoys and the villagers' community, but once again he held off on this task, probably with the intention of finding Alvin, but the boy managed to teleport to another area. After he resigned from the task, the villagers began to misjudge Berengar, and he was ridiculed for his cowardice for giving himself up to kill the greatest Vodyanoyam known as Dagon.
The Witcher[]
For the first time, we learn about Berengar in the prologue from Vesemir, where he mentions him to Geralt, so Geralt decides to look for him if he is still alive, asking various accounts of witnesses to get some information.
In Act 1, Geralt learns from the Reverend that he had a contract to kill Hellhounds and barghests but did not carry out because he took it out of fear when he heard the word the beast when he met with Abigail gave him Berengar's notes which provide information about the Hellhound.
In Act 2, Geralt found another clue in the search for Berengar in the dungeons of the Temple Guard, he gets a silver sword to eliminate the cockatrice, but it turns out that it was the sword of another witcher named Coen, but not which of Berengar's items are in Taral's possession, which gives him suspicion of cooperation with the Salamandra. Geralt, traveling in the slums, learns from two thugs that if he provokes the head of the half-witness criminal Ramsmeat, he will end up like Berengar giving him another suspect. Some information about Berengar is possessed by fisstech dealer Coleman, and Kalkstein admitted that he had contracted Berengar, but he was lost. When Geralt arrived in the swamp village, the old woman Vaska gave him a lead on Berengar's case by directing him to the clay pits where he discovered two bodies of Salamandra members, one of which had a brooch cut in half with a witcher sword. Geralt assumed that Berengar was dead until, according to Siegfried or Yaevinn, whose side Geralt is on, he will say that Berengar is still alive.
In Act 3 When the professor is killed by a kikimora Geralt searches his body where he finds a letter he was supposed to send to a hitman to kidnap a young boy Alvin and an unknown person although the professor doesn't call this person any specific way, he didn't even give a specific name but he can guess it was and found out about his betrayal.
In act 4 Geralt found and met Berengar for the first time on the edge of the crypt, where he helps him kill the monster living in the crypt, hoping that the witcher who was looking for him will die and have peace, however, Geralt manages to kill all the monsters with which he fought and thus Berengar had to confront Geralt. Berengar wasn't too effusive towards Geralt and admits that he left Geralt alone or for such disgraceful actions, and also admits to him that he hates witchers. Berengar asks Geralt to bring elements to create crow armor that are in the crypt and that they belonged to a legendary witcher named crook, to which Geralt agrees and also encourages you to talk about it with armorers. In the quest The Heat of the Day Geralt can ask him about lifting the curse from Alina's noonday thanks to Nehaleni's mirror, but Berengar doesn't know anything at all so he decides to ask Jaskier better because at the same moment he was talking to Julian in the tavern.
In the quest The Paths of Destiny where the lady of the lake wonders about Berengar's personality and whether her bound dream was referring to him but Gelart had doubts and didn't believe it, however when Geralt was getting new information from Berengar especially on Tern Island when Geralt received a silver sword called Aerondight from the lady of the lake.
Berengar admits Geralt's rudimentary information about his past, admitting that he betrayed the witchers from the school of the wolf, admitting where the witcher's lair of Kear morhen is located, leading to the Salamander attack and Leo's death.Depending on the decisions made, if Geralt forgives Berengar for betrayal, he leaves Geralt and promises that they will meet again. If Geralt condemns Berengar himself and his actions in harsh words, Berengar being humiliated caused him uncontrollable fury, decide to kill him, but Berengar was not a strong opponent and Geralt kills him easily.
What the berengar's fate affects the plot of the game is if he is killed Geralt knows his witcher amulet against the magic of the Salamandra leader Azar Javed weakening him and Azar himself replies to the witcher if this amulet is a problem then he says that it can weaken him but he will die after Javed's death anyway Geralt has flashbacks where he regrets killing him and wonders if he hasn't ruined his second chance to improve his fate. If Berengar is spared he will come to Geralt to his surprise Berengar tells him that he has thought it over and is going to help Geralt by fighting Javed where he rejects his creative and pitiful attitude Javed tried to convince him to give up but Berengar ignores and intends to help Geralt against Azar depending on whether lives or dies Azar Javed is then killed.
In the epilogue, the Grand Master of the Order of the Flaming Rose, Jacques de Aldersberg, mentions Berengar in his words, telling Geralt that he was drawn to witchers like himself and Berengar. The acquaintance with Berengar is possibly due to the fact that the High Lord was Javed's ally and knew of his existence, or it may serve as further evidence that Alvin and the High Lord are the same person.
Journal Entry[]
Vesemir mentioned a witcher who had left Kaer Morhen before my arrival. His name is Berengar.
Berengar was seen in the Outskirts earlier. He agreed to kill the Beast but then disappeared. Did he fear facing the monster?
I found out Berengar had dealings with Salamandra. I don't know whether he was their associate or enemy.
Berengar remains one step ahead of me. He was in Vizima, where he was hired by Kalkstein the alchemist. Just like me.
Berengar the witcher is dead.
The early rumors about Berengar proved false. The witcher was working with Salamandra, and the Professor had ordered him to find Alvin.
I finally met Berengar in the village of Murky Waters. A bitter and unfriendly outcast, he bears a grudge against other witchers. Apparently, I'm included.
I had a serious conversation with Berengar, which left me with a better understanding of his experiences and motivations. Berengar seemed moved and decided to seek peace elsewhere, far away from trouble.
Berengar wrote a letter in which he admitted that he was a coward, that he had collaborated with Salamandra and that he had betrayed Kaer Morhen. I was moved by our meeting - Berengar set off to Vizima to catch Azar Javed in a hidden Salamandra laboratory.
- If Geralt kills Berengar:
After a tense conversation, Berengar challenged me to a duel. I had to kill him.
- If Geralt spares Berengar:
This time it was Berengar who followed me. He came to my aid as I fought Azar Javed. Unfortunately, he perished, but his sacrifice was not in vain.

Trivia[]
- In the prologue to The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, he appears in Geralt's dream where he finds him in the woods with Lambert, despite meeting him after the attack on Kear Morhem.
- During the side quest, when Geralt says to the questgiver that he is from the school of the wolf, the questgiver will mention one witcher from his school, although he doesn't remember his full name, but he knows that it started with b, but the only witchers from this one that started with a name of b are Berengar and Barmin, so which of them was a witcher known to the client.
