The Berlint University Student Terrorists are the main antagonists of the Doggy Crisis arc of the Spy × Family series. They are a far-right group of terrorist college students from Ostania led by Keith Kepler, who were planning on kickstarting a war against their rival nation of Westalis. Their plan consisted of assassinating the Westalian minister Brantz during his stay in Berlint using a dog suicide bomber. Because of this, they become primary targets for Loid Forger and the Secret Police.

However, a curious Anya at an adoption event for stray dogs spots one of these suicide bomber dogs, and follows it to their headquarters. Thanks to this, she was able to determine their plan to kill Loid via a bomb, and prevent him from detonating it.

History[]

Background[]

The organization was formed by a group of university students from Berlint University that all shared the same ultra-nationalist ideals and desire to reignite the war between Westalis and Ostania, that had once devastated the two nations decades before the events of the series. With Keith in charge of the group, they start planning the assassination of the westalian minister Brantz, who was staying in Berlint to attend a summit at the country.

After acquiring the dogs, Keith starts to put the plan into action. On the same day, WISE and SSS learn about their plan and immediately start working to stop them. WISE manages to catch a member named Kris, Sylvia tries to get information from him, but Kris says he will not sell out his friends and does not say anything. Thereupon, they have no other choice, so they call Loid Forger, also known as Twilight. He disguises himself as Keith by watching home videos of him, then tricks Kris into giving them information. While talking to Sylvia, Kris gives her a lot of information, such as their hideouts, members, and the method they will use to kill Minister Brantz.

While two of the members are walking Bond and Aaron, they pass by Anya Forger. Anya reads Bond's mind for a few seconds and sees herself and her family. Anya, who watches them from a distance, gets carried away by her curiosity and follows them, and when she reaches their hideout, she starts listening to their conversation from behind the door. After their conversation ends, just as she is about to escape, she is caught by one of the members. When Keith sees her, he tries to kill Anya to prevent her from causing trouble, but Bond, who escapes at the last moment, jumps forward to protect her. Realizing that he cannot do anything against them, Bond starts to escape with Anya, but Keith and Kurt catch them soon. Just as they are about to make a move to kill them, Yor comes from behind, knocks Kurt down and scares Aaron, while Keith desperately runs away.

Meanwhile, Sylvia and the other WISE agents manage to arrest the remaining members. Realizing that he is the only one left, Keith desperately takes action to carry out the plan on his own.

Keith sets traps to both get rid of the WISE agents and kill Minister Brantz, but both are stopped by Anya and Loid. After his plan fails, Keith tries to escape, but he gets stopped by Yor. Later, as heard from the WISE agents, the SSS has taken care of the rest and arrested him, and thus the terrorists' plans are foiled.

  4. Kim
  5. Bond Forger (formerly)
  6. Aaron (formerly)
  7. 6 unnamed members
  8. Various unnamed dogs

Trivia[]

  • Beffiting the Cold War theme of the series, Keith's group may or may not be a nod to the various political student movements that occurred around the world during that period.
    • Ironically, most of these movements during the Cold War were actually vehemently anti-war, fought for free speech and usually had left-leaning ideals, which is a direct contrast to Keith's far-right and xenophobic ideology.
  • Coincidentally, all the named members of the group have names that start with "K" (Keith, Kris, Kurt and Kim). Some of the members also bear the initials "K9" in their outfits, which is likely a reference to their usage of dogs.
  • As a WISE agent points out, it's likely Keith and his terrorists were being sponsored by some other far-right group. This could imply that they may have a connection to Donovan Desmond and the National Unity Party, as they both share the same goals of instigating another war between the two nations.
  • It's unknown what exactly happened to the other members of the group that were captured by WISE. Their final scene cuts off implying that they were executed by Sylvia Sherwood, but considering her anti-war stance and her prior speech about its horrors, it's likely that they were just arrrested and that Sylvia was simply taunting them.
