Berserker AKA Shōgo Kitsukawa was one of the Eight Fists of Ragnarök holding the position of the second fist one of the Three of cards.

Summary[]

Before joining Ragnarök Berserk was an undefeated street fighter who fought anyone who challenged him. After easily defeating an entire gang, he encountered Ryūto Asamiya AKA Odin, who became the first person to defeat him. The shock of his brutal defeat caused Berserk to develop a hidden fear of Ryūto and block the fight out from his memories. Afterward, he became one of the founding members of Ragnarök alongside Odin and Freya.

After several of the Eight Fists loses against Kenichi and the Shinpaku Alliance, Loki begins conspiring against Odin to replace him with Bersker. While playing cards, Loki subtly suggests that Berserker would be a better leader than Odin. Loki seems to win the card game by cheating, causing Berserk to quit, only to discover Berserk knew he rigged the deck and still won with a royal flush.

When Ragnarök launches an attack to destroy the Shinpaku Alliance, Berserker targets Niijima and easily defeats Takeda, Ukita, and several of the Shinpaku Alliance's minor members. Niijima retreats and lures Berserk into a pit trap filled with glue, but Berserk escapes it and prepares to attack Niijima. Siegfried saves Niijima and battles Berserker, but he is no match for the second fist and Siegfried tries to drown both himself and Berserker in a river in desperation. Berserker manages to escape using his Berserk Mode and leaves Siegfried to drown. Despite the damage inflicted to the Shinpaku Alliance, Niijima manages to escape, and Siegfried is rescued by the masters of Ryōzanpaku, while Freya's team is defeated in a separate battle.

The next day, the remaining members of Ragnarök led by Loki ambush Niijima at an abandoned warehouse to finish off the Shinpaku Alliance. The Shinpaku Alliance gets reinforcements when Hermit and Thor join the battle, prompting Odin and Berserker to join as well. When Odin derides Loki's failed plan, the latter attempts his coup to replace Odin with Berserker and reveals six new fighters to replace the defeated Fists. Berserker seems to switch to Loki's side, but reveals he is still loyal to Odin, and he was only positioning himself to attack before he singles-handedly defeats Loki and his new fighters. Odin reveals he told Berserker about Loki's planned betrayal and Berserker knocks out Loki after declaring he only follows people he respects. Hermit, angry that Berserker took his chance to get revenge of Loki, challenges the second fist just as Kenichi returns to face Odin in a rematch. Odin has no interest in fighting Kenichi again and tries to have Berserker fight them both, but Hermit insists on fighting Berserker alone. Hermit's training allows him to hold his own against Berserker's raw talent and uses a technique that counters the human reflex to bypass Berserker's instincts and land several blows. However, Berserker declares Hermit can't give him a challenge and retaliates by using unorthodox moves to land a kick to Hermit's face. Believing he's won, Berserk tries to fight Kenichi next, but Hermit gets back up and lands more attacks, warning Berserker that he's not like the other opponent's he has fought. He knocks Berserker down and tells Berserker that his raw talent is actually his weakness, because it has kept him from learning how persevere for victory. Berserker then enters his Berserk Mode and admits Hermit may be the first one who can match his strength. With his Berserk Mode's additional strength, Berserker overwhelms Hermit as his instincts and wild attacks make his strikes unpredictable. He pummels Hermit and believes Hermit has failed to challenge him, only Hermit to land a heavy counter and reveal he was waiting for Berserk to leave an opening the whole time. Despite the injury, Berserker stands back up again, being fueled by pure adrenaline, and keeps fighting. Hermit dislocates Berserker's arm and lands a finishing blow, declaring his efforts will always surpass Berserker's talent. Faced with defeat for the first time since he fought Odin, Berserker refused to admit his loss and yield but is finally stopped when Kenichi convinces him that he can learn more from his defeat than victory. Berserker tells Kenichi of how Odin was the first person to defeat him and warns him of Odin's strength, but Odin knocks him out as punishment for losing.

After Odin is defeated by Kenichi and Ragnarök is disbanded, Berserker would become a disciple of Isshinsai Ogata and join Yomi.

Personality[]

Berserk usually shows a calm and indifferent disposition, not getting excited or rattled by almost anything. Due to his incredible natural talent, he wins most fights with little effort and finds himself constantly bored and search of a real challenge. The one person he fears is Odin, who handed him his first defeat. When he enters Berserk Mode, he lives up to his alias and becomes a battle crazed maniac.

Abilities[]

Street fighting: Unlike the other Eight Fists, Berserk doesn't use a martial art style and instead fights using raw power, instinct, and natural ability. While this leaves his technique flawed, his unpredictable attacks and natural talent easily make up for that weakness. Since he doesn't use a set rhythm of attacks, his moves can't be predicted, and he can change his patterns at will.

Natural Talent: Berserker has an incredible natural talent for fighting that allows him to easily defeat those with proper training through sheer instinct and reflex.

Berserk Mode: Berserker's strongest ability used when he is faced with an actual threat. It is an adrenaline rush that gives Berserker increased strength and speed and makes his wild attacks even harder to predict. In this state, Berserker's instincts and raw power are pushed to their highest level.
