Bert is a major character in Cobra Kai. He was one of the Cobra Kai Dojo's youngest students under Johnny Lawrence's tutelage, but when he is banished by John Kreese after refusing to feed the hamster to a snake, he joins Johnny Lawrence's newest dojo, Eagle Fang Karate.
He is portrayed by Owen Morgan.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Bert, along with several other teenagers, join Cobra Kai after having witnessed Miguel Diaz beat up Kyler Park and his gang at the school's cafeteria. At first, he and the new students are scolded by Johnny Lawrence, which causes a few students to quit. However, Bert is one of them who don't
In the morning of the All-Valley Karate Tournament, Bert tells Aisha and Hawk that they don't think Johnny Lawrence is not coming because the previous night, they saw Johnny peeing in his car. Johnny, however, unexpectedly shows up. During the tournament preliminaries, Bert unexpectedly loses to his opponent very easily prior to the quarterfinals. However, the Cobra Kai's think it was lopsided, since Bert easily lost to someone bigger than him due to his size. However, Bert and the rest of the students celebrate when Miguel Diaz beats Robby Keene in the finals.
Season 2[]
Bert continues to remain with Cobra Kai, though he and the rest of the students are switched back to white belts when Johnny Lawrence scolds Miguel Diaz and Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz for using cheap shots against their opponents. During a training session where students must mix concrete in the cement mixer, he is one of the few mixing concrete, although not part of the students who were assigned to push the cement drum.
He is also shown welcoming Stingray. During the West Valley High School fight, Bert is shown to fight Miyagi-Do student Nathaniel. It is shown that Nathaniel is landing more hits on Bert, but mid-fight, the latter was able to break his glasses. However, Nathaniel was able to beat up Bert to the ground and repeatedly punched him. This results both of them being taken away by a security guard as punishment.
Season 3[]
Bert returns to school two weeks later because of his suspension of his fight against Nathaniel. He encounters Hawk and Mitch proceeds to walk, but they are confronted by rivals Demetri, Chris, and Nathaniel. Although it nearly causes a clash between them, Counselor Blatt shows up and asks if everything is okay before they decide to walk away.
During a session at the Cobra Kai dojo, Kreese brings in a hamster, which Bert names him Clarence. Kreese then shows a snake in his class and orders Bert to feed the hamster to it. When Bert refuses to comply to Kreese's demands, Kreese tries to show sympathy by demanding his students if Clarence should live. However, he kicks out the students who went against Cobra Kai. Bert is shocked and confused and asks Kreese why he would do this, which he angrily objects to him to get out. Bert slowly walks away from the dojo as Kreese fed the hamster to his pet snake.
Having been rejected by Cobra Kai, Bert is one of the few students to join Johnny Lawrence's newest dojo, Eagle Fang Karate. One night, Bert and the other Eagle Fang's are invited to Samantha LaRusso's house, where she suggests that the dojos must start working together to take on Cobra Kai. Although he and the rest of the students are against this, except for Miguel and Sam, they agree on it when Demetri makes a speech about how they should work together to take on Cobra Kai.
Bert unexpectedly hears a meow and checking if a cat arrived at their house, he is unexpectedly thrown at the window, as it turned out to be a trap set up by Kreese since the Cobra Kai's tricked him into believing it was their cat. Bert and the others are attacked by Cobra Kai's led by Hawk and Tory Nichols. At first, they initially struggle, but eventually prevail when Hawk has a change of heart and decides to switch sides after having realized about how Cobra Kai was corrupting him as he remembered Johnny Lawrence's advise. The following morning, Bert and his Eagle Fang friends show up as Johnny and Daniel prepare to work together to train their students for the upcoming All-Valley. Having befriended each other, Nathaniel and Bert shake hands as training begins.
Season 4[]
Bert, along with the other students would listen to Johnny's speech about Cobra Kai. Bert and Mitch would spar, but Daniel interrupts them saying that Johnny didn't teach any defense, and Mitch at one point would tell him that "best defense is more offense", letting Bert kick Mitch twice as he was talking with Daniel. As Daniel and Johnny agreed to train their dojos with a different style, Bert and the Eagle Fang students would train with Daniel.
At school, Bert and Nathaniel are one of the few who make fun of Kenny Payne on his affiliation with Cobra Kai. Kenny was about to punch Bert, but is stopped by Hawk, who demands Kenny to leave Cobra Kai if he still can. Bert and Nate were also at the drive-in where they almost get into a confrontation between the Cobra Kai's, Eagle Fang's, and the Miyagi-Do's. When Eagle Fang learns that the All-Valley committee will implement a girls' division, they start to look for girls to join them. Although they initially tried to choose Piper Elswith, he became shocked when she and the others decided to join Cobra Kai. Desperate, Bert suggests that Devon Lee should join them after witnessing her rip her opponents book during a class debate. Bert is impressed with Devon's personality and the two train for the tournament.
Bert would later attend the Junior Prom with his date and would unexpectedly see Stingray there, asking him if he can rejoin Cobra Kai. Bert, however, says that he is no longer with Cobra Kai. Stingray looks puzzled and tells him if his prom afterparty was cancelled, which Bert complied "yeah", resulting Stingray to host a prom afterparty at his house.
Bert would later participate in the All Valley Karate Tournament, where he is able to land a hit on his opponent. However, he loses once more since his opponent was bigger than him. Nevertheless, he continued to watch matches.
Season 5[]
Bert is shown to be at the water park with Devon, Mitch, and a few other Eagle Fang's relaxing in the pool. Although Bert is disgusted that they can't go down the water slide since Cobra Kai has claimed it, Devon Lee suggests they should still go there. However, a clash between the Eagle Fang's, Miyagi-Do's, and Cobra Kai's resulted them being kicked off the park.
Bert is also with Nate and Chris as they witnessed Mitch refuse a brownie from a Cobra Kai group at a strip mall, causing him to put down the free snacks and leave with the group. Later, they start to train with Chozen as he taught them a lesson on how to "protect the egg". Although they initially struggle at first, Bert, and the rest of the crew, work together as a team and beat Chozen at his own game thanks to Anthony LaRusso's skills in Dungeon Lord.
Later, Bert, along with Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do, go to the Cobra Kai dojo for the Sekai Taikai qualifications. When Samantha LaRusso easily defeats Devon Lee, the organizers are impressed and let Miyagi-Do qualify, causing Bert and the rest of them to celebrate. He later attends the afterparty at Miguel's apartment.
After finding out about Silver bribing the referee at the All-Valley, along with the fact that he was able to beat up Stingray and frame Kreese for the crime, they go to Stingray's house to confront him. Although Stingray at first refuses, he is able to show how it happened by doing a Dungeons and Dragons scenario about how Terry beat him up and framed Kreese.
This results the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang's working together with a redeemed Tory by going to the dojo to find any evidence on Silver. Although the video of Silver beating up Kreese was removed, they are, able to find the tape where Terry confessed his bribery to Tory days earlier. However, Cobra Kai students arrived to confront them. It was later revealed that Mitch was an undercover agent of Cobra Kai all along, and tipped off their plan to break in the dojo. Bert is shocked on why Mitch would do this, to the point that he felt disgusted by his friends for being mocked by them and that his intent was never leaving Cobra Kai in the first place since its lavish training suits him. This results a brawl happening between them. Bert and Nathaniel were able to work together to hold off the army of Cobra Kai students while Anthony uses Demetri's tablet to upload the video of Silver's confession to Tory. It was able to successfully work and the Cobra Kai's would eventually know the truth, ending the chaos.
Daniel and Silver then show up and they both fight, resulting in Daniel winning and the rest of the Cobra Kai's quitting.

- Bert is the first Cobra Kai student to be removed from the team.
- Owen Morgan, his actor, is in fact a real life karate black belt.
- It is known that Bert has a soft spot for animals, as shown when he cares for Clarence, who was the hamster that he was forced into trying to feed him to the snake, and when he hears a meow when he thinks its a cat.
- He is best friends with Nathan Oh in real life, and have known each other prior to the show, which is somewhat ironic, that in the show, they seemingly hate each other until the third season.
