Bert and Joan are supporting antagonists in the 2025 period action horror film Sinners.
They were a couple who were members of the infamous Ku Klux Klan until they were turned into vampires by Remmick.
Bert was portrayed by Peter Dreimanis and Joan was portrayed by Lola Kirke.
Biography[]
Past[]
Bert and Joan met each other at some point in life, possibly during a Ku Klux Klan plot, and became husband and wife. They joined the klan under leadership of Bert's uncle, Hogwood, and possibly helped him kill countless black men for the klan.
Sinners[]
One night, after Hogwood sold a sawmill to the infamous brothers Smoke and Stack, the klan prepared to attack them the next morning, but unfortunately for Bert and Joan, they were visited by an Irish man under the name of Remmick who was chased by Choctaw indians. He begged for them to let him in and the two ultimately gave in to their greed and welcomed him in. Joan then told the coming choctaws that they hadn't seen Remmick, even after she was warned by the indians. She then left her shotgun and went to look for Bert, only to find him having been bitten and turned by Remmick and not being able to do anything but scream as she was turned too.
Bert and Joan later appeared alongside Remmick, trying to trick their way into Club Juke, but they were denied entry and waited outside. Then, Stack's ex Mary, came out to them and Remmick bit and turned her, setting their plan in motion. After Mary had bit and seemingly killed Stack, Delta Slim sent all the other guests outside where Remmick, Mary, Joan and Bert preceded to turn many if not all of them, including Grace's husband, Bo Chow. They also assisted Remmick and the two racists was finally finished off once and for all, either killed during the attack or when the sun rose and incinerated the remaining vampires.
