Betsy is a minor antagonist in Archie's Weird Mysteries, and she serves as the main antagonist of the episode, "Driven to Distraction". She is a car that belongs to Archie Andrews. When she receives a pair of fuzzy dice, Betsy comes to life, and she tries to get rid of Archie's friends, so that she can have Archie all to herself.
She was voiced by Jill Anderson.
Biography
Despite making her first appearance in the series premiere, "Attack of the Killer Spuds", Betsy's official debut episode is "Driven to Distraction". She is first seen being cleaned by Archie as he talks to Jughead. Archie is so obsessed with Betsy, that he forgets to spend time with his friends, including his love interests, Betty and Veronica. Later, when Reggie talks to Archie, he activates Betsy's alarm system when he kicks her. Afterward, Archie buys a pair of fuzzy dice at Dr. Beaumont's shop. When he gets home, he hangs the fuzzy dice on Betsy's mirror. Unbeknownst to Archie, the fuzzy dice make Betsy come to life.
During Archie's date with Veronica, Betsy starts to chase after Reggie. And when Archie and Veronica go outside, Betsy tells the latter to step away from the former. After that, she squirts oil all over Veronica, much to her anger. Despite this, Archie seems to enjoy his time with Betsy. On the night of the spring dance, Archie takes Betsy home. And then, he decides to go to the spring dance with his friends because he wants to spend time with real people. Unfortunately, Betsy's jealousy gets the better of her, and she decides to get rid of Archie's friends, so that she can have him all to herself.
After the spring dance, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, and Jughead start to wonder why Archie hadn't shown up. But when Betsy shows up, she starts to chase them. A little while later, Archie tries to stop Betsy from hurting his friends. Realizing that the fuzzy dice make her come to life, Archie takes them off, and Betsy turns back to a normal car. Unfortunately, she ends up crashing into the school's statue. Despite this, Archie decides to send her to the car repair shop, so that he can spend more time with his friends. As they leave the school, Dr. Beaumont picks up the fuzzy dice, and walks away.
Despite having one speaking role as a talking car, Betsy has become a victim in other episodes. In the Archie's Time Travel Adventures story arc, she's the victim of Vinnie Wells. First, he turns Betsy into a motor scooter in "Alternate Riverdales". And then, Vinnie's future self's T-Rex destroys her in "Teen Out of Time". As a bonus, the latter episode shows Archie saying, "Why is it always my car that gets wrecked?", when he finds out that Betsy has been destroyed by the T-Rex.
