~ Bigs |
Bigs is a member and leader of the Toxic Mutants, an unnaturally born breed of beings made from noxious chemicals generated from humanity's pollution, and a major antagonist in Power Rangers Megaforce.
Bigs and his comrades bear a hatred towards mankind, both for creating them and leaving them aloof as outcasts of society. As such, when Vrak arrives and offers him and Bluefur a chance to ally themselves with him, they promptly accept and, from then on, carry out the war against the Megaforce. By doing so, they indirectly become comrades to Malkor as well.
Bigs is voiced by Charlie McDermott who previously voiced Hekatoid from Mystic Force, Blothgaar from Operation Overdrive, Pangolin from Jungle Fury, General Crunch from RPM, Grinataur from Super Samurai and later voiced Cat O'Clock from Ninja Steel and Rygore from Super Ninja Steel.
History[]
Bigs has, like all Toxic Mutants, lived isolated from humankind in the forests, lakes and mountains away from Harwood County. As he and Bluefur prepare to give the humans "a wake up call they can't ignore", they are greeted by Vrak and then join forces with the Insectoids in order to complete their task more quickly. Bigs watches on as Bluefur summons a close friend of theirs, Hisser, and seeks them on the Mega Rangers. They are overpowered and all seems lost until a blinding sphere of light flies by Hisser and lands on the ground nearby, emerging as a mighty metallic warrior: Robo Knight. He introduces himself and takes on Hisser, easily outmatching and defeating him with his Robo Blade and Vulcan Cannon, from which he ultimately fires his Knight Dynamic and takes him down. Even when the Zombats turn Hisser into a giant, he simply converts himself into the Lion Mechazord and launches his Victory Strike, obliterating him, much to Bluefur's anger and Bigs' grief. Vrak is also upset, as he believes Hisser would have won if not for Robo Knight.
After yet another Toxic Mutant, Psychotick, is defeated by the newfound power of the Grand Strike, courtesy of the Gosei Grand Megazord, which Robo Knight acquired during his last battle against Vrak by combining himself with the Knight Brothers, the Sealion and Skylion Mechazords, Bigs calls upon Shadow Serpent to deal with the Rangers. After his first run with the Megaforce, which almost led the humans to their defeat, Vrak and Bluefur join Bigs and Shadow Serpent in a secluded conversation around the lake in which most of the Toxic Mutants live. They encourage him to defeat the Mega Rangers while Vrak advises him not to make the same mistake of underestimating them, as Creepox had done so in the recent past. Even with his superior strength, Vrak's concerns are highlighted when the Megaforce finally begins to work in unison and Robo Knight temporarily finishes him off with the Knight Dynamic. Upon seeing this, Malkor becomes enraged, as Vrak had not informed him of this plan and orders him to explain himself. Vrak simply sends his Zombats to enlarge Shadow Serpent. He overpowers both the Gosei Grand and Gosei Great Megazords but is defeated when they fuse into the newly-flush Gosei Great Grand Megazord and are finally dispatched by its Double Strike.
As Distractor and his phantom army, consisting of Hisser, Psychotick, Skyfish, Gremlin, Kesaran and Mummy, fall before the power of the Ultra Mode, a powered-up state acquired due to the Wild Sword, an ancient artifact which Vrak also attempted to claim, Bigs and Bluefur tell Nojoke to follow Vrak's plan to the letter as to exploit human laughter and ensnare all those who laugh or even giggle into his gourd in order to dissolve them into oblivion. That, however, ends up in failure as Nojoke is dealt with by the full power of the Megaforce through the Ultra Strike and Knight Dynamic. He enlarges thanks to the Zombats and initially puts up a good fight by blowing fierce winds from his wings, even stronger than those of a hurricane, but the Sea Gosei Great Megazords soaks his wings and incapacitates this, allowing the Gosei Grand Megazord to use the Grand Strike and destroy him.
As Dream Snatcher comes along, Bigs and Bluefur use the Aurora Box, gained from Vrak, to increase his strength a hundredfold, which causes him to become capable of absorbing dreams of awakened people and to grow Roots of Despair which, if left unchecked, will rot the Earth to its core. Although he proves a challenge to the Megaforce and almost takes away one of their own, he is eventually defeated by the Ultra Sky Dynamic and then by the Gosei Great Grand Megazord's Double Strike. Tired of playing games with the Rangers, Bigs and Bluefur prepare to enact their master plan by infusing themselves with the power of the Aurora Box. They do so, and then set out to the city in order to begin the end of life on Earth.
The Megaforce fights with them, but is completely overpowered by the vastly superior strength and skill of their enemies. Even after the Ultra Mode is summoned, the Toxic Mutants are still able to retaliate with Bigs' newest special move: the Aurora Blast. However, they eventually pull through and blast Bigs apart with the Ultra Strike, instilling Bluefur to retreat. In the same night of that very day, Bluefur enlarges the Aurora Box and allows Bigs to assume his new form in unison with the royal weapon. As the Megaforce approaches to confront Bluefur, Bigs reveals himself anew and prompts Bluefur to battle the Mega Rangers, only for him to be stopped by Robo Knight.
As Robo Knight battles Bluefur, the Mega Rangers make their way into the Aurora Box and find Bigs hanging upside down from an organic network. He attempts to suck up their powers in order to increase his own, but it fails as the Mega Rangers break free from his toxic grip and eliminate Bigs from the inside, slaying him for good.
Bluefur becomes extremely infuriated. Vrak notices this and sends the Zombats to make him grow and avoid him to suffer them same fate as Bigs just had. Although he is successful in defeating the Gosei Grand Megazord, he meets his match when fighting the Command Ship, which the Rangers use to both destroy the Aurora Box and to engage Bluefur in battle. It transforms into the Gosei Ultimate Megazord soon thereafter. Despite being the strongest Toxic Mutant, Bluefur is unable to match the newfound strength of his enemies and is destroyed by the Ultimate Laser Cannon and Ultimate Strike techniques, putting an end to his kind and to the threat they posed to Earth.
Some time later, Bigs was reminded, along with Bluefur and Creepox, by Malkor when he conversed with Vrak about the recent defeats of their late allies and the need to complete the invasion before the alien Armada arrives.
Personality[]
Bigs tends to be overly goofy and joyous, is highly ecstatic with teaming up with Admiral Malkor and Vrak, and greatly respects his fellow Toxic Mutant Bluefur. He also has a very strong friendship with Bluefur. Bigs and his kind of mutants bear a great hatred, despise and contempt towards the human race and will stop at nothing to wipe out humanity, destroy the Mega Rangers and take over the Earth for Warstar, albeit unknowingly.
Despite his goofy and mischievous personality and nature, Bigs is in fact extremely intelligent and quite cunning and is fully able to create a cunning, deceptive and intelligent plans of defeating, outsmarting and destroying his enemies and achieving his goals. Arguably his most welll created and cunning plan was to use the Aurora Box and trying to totally pollute the Earth and transform the planet into the lifeless wasteland, destined for himself and his race in his opinion. Hlwever, while he was unambiguously extremely cunning, intelligent and creative planner without a doubt, but Bigs still proved to be somewhat slightly arrogant and confident in some degree and it eventually led to his defeat, albeit it should be noted that Mega Rangers still had to work and fight hardly and use their brains to defeat and outsmart him.
However, despite his ruthless and genocidal nature, Bigs genuinely cares about his species, being very polite and friendly towards his fellow Toxic Mutants and doesn't humiliate them, even viewing them as the superior species towards humans, and that means that he isn't completely heartless and still has some small side of good, which is represented in truly caring about his own race and, questionably, in his loyalty to Vrak and Warstar.
Powers and Abilities[]
Bigs is one of the strongest Toxic Mutants and, from the start, wields enough ability to stand up to the Mega Rangers. After being empowered by the Aurora Box, he became even more formidable an enemy to them, exceeding Creepox and about as strong as Vrak's mutant form, up until the latter was mechanized near the end of the series.
- Energy Absorption and Redirection: Bigs can absorb energy from the Mega Rangers' weapons and send them back at the Rangers.
- Flexibility: Bigs can easily avert damage by rubbering hits off.
- Indestructability: Bigs, as a result of his gooey nature, is virtually unkillable. Even the Ultra Power Dynamic Strike just splattered him across the city and most of him was able to survive within the Aurora Box. The only way to kill him is by destroying his core (i.e. the piece within the Aurora Box).
- Sliding: Bigs can slide around the battlefield by turning into a purple energy blob.
- Teleportation: Bigs can teleport to any location at his will.
- Shapeshifting: Bigs can mold his own body at will, adjusting shape and size and making him impervious to physical assault.
- Levitation: Bigs was able to levitate upside down.
- Alliance Proning: Bigs is willing to avenge himself of humanity alongside Bluefur due to their disregard to their own species and allies with diplomacy beside Admiral Malkor through Vrak's behalf in order to do so since, once success is achieved, Insectoids and Mutants would co-rule Earth.
- Ring Lash: Bigs can use his own body to entangle his foes within an inescapable tight spot.
- Toxin Generation: Since his own body is made of slime, Bigs can poison all life by mass producing noxious purple fumes and scattering them, with deadly health effects to all those who come in contact with it, except for his own race.
- Adhesion: When empowered by the Aurora Box, Bigs's toxin has become extremely sticky.
- Sludge Form: Bigs was able to emerge from the Aurora Box as a massive purple sludge.
- Slime Spread: Bigs can spread his entire slime-like body all over the world.
- Steam Blasts: In the Aurora Box, Bigs was able to release blasts of white steam from his hands.
- Tentacles: In the Aurora Box, Bigs was also able to release tentacles from his body to wrap up his opponents.
- Energy Drain: Bigs can also drain his opponents' energy with his tentacles to make himself stronger.
- Strength: is one of the stronger Toxic Mutants, being able to fight and overpower the Rangers.
- Aurora Empowerment: Bigs can draw power from the Aurora Box to raise his power.
- Monster Summoning: Bigs can summon any of his fellow Toxic Mutants by calling out for them.
- Resourcefulness: Bigs has a vast arsenal of his own, including a cane and two twin staffs, all of which is increased when the Wild Sword and the Aurora Box are placed into question.
Arsenal[]
- Double-Ended Staff: Bigs carries around a massive double-ended staff to utilize in combat.
- Staff Blast: Bigs can release violet energy blasts from his staff.
- Twin Staffs: Bigs can separate his staff into two smaller ones that are reminiscent of Saruman's.
- Toxic Fireball: By using his staffs with Bluefur's club, he can collectively launch a mighty purple-hued flaming orb at the enemies by combining their energy.
- Toxin Infusion: Bigs' staffs were able to infuse the Aurora Box with toxic slime, which came in the form of purple lightning.
- Aurora Blast: The strongest attack of the Toxic Mutants which they can only use after powering up with the Aurora Box. Bigs will have Bluefur position himself behind him while he charges purple energy within his twin staffs in order to aim a focused energy blast of the same color in the shape of the Toxic Mutant badge. A single blast was powerful enough to take down all five Rangers and Robo Knight although the second use was overwhelmed by the Dynamic Strike.
