Biography[]
Not much is known about Billy Barnes' early life, except that he was a former U.S. Army tankengineer. He appears in the chapter "The Wild Ones", taking place on April 11, 1951. Billy and his gang confront Vito Scaletta and Joe Barbaro when catching them selling stolen cigarettes at discount. Billy confronts Joe and demands payment for operating on their turf. The confrontation gets heated when Joe refuses to move along, and orders Billy to get back into his car and leave. Billy insults Joe and later orders his gang to torch the truck containing the merchandise, ultimately destroying it. Billy mocks Joe, only for Joe to retaliate by shooting Billy in the face, killing him instantly.
The Greasers flee and hide out in the foundry. Vito and Joe enlist the help of Steve Coyne and some of his men to help them out and they shoot up and foundry and completely wipe out Billy's gang.
