Biosyn, also known in Michael Crichton's continuity as Biology Synthetics Technologies, Incorporated Corporation and in Universal Pictures' continuity as Biology Synthetics Technologies, Incorporated Genetics, are the main antagonists of the Jurassic Park franchise.
They are a genetics corporation that wishes to experiment on dinosaurs for their own nefarious purposes and are rivals with InGen and Mantah Corp. In the novels, they are a company described as having more lawyers, spies, saboteurs than actual scientists and are also shown to be infamous for stealing ideas from other scientists and introducing them as their own while also thoroughly covering their tracks with no one suspecting their involvement or sometimes framing another rival company or use them as a scapegoat for their activities.
Biography[]
Michael's Timeline[]
Biosyn was led by their CEO Bill Steingarten and competed greatly with International Genetics Technologies, otherwise known as InGen. They used their infamous Head of Research, Lewis Dodgson, to keep up with them through various activities, such as corporate espionage.
In 1989, Dodgson meets with the Board of Directors of Biosyn and schemes with them to steal the dinosaur embryos from InGen so they can make their own dinosaurs. To that end, Biosyn sends Dodgson to an airport coffee shop in San Francisco where he meets the InGen computer programmer named Dennis Nedry, and gives him a canister for the embryos and gives him $750,000.00 to convince him to do the job. However, Nedry is killed by a Dilophosaurus and the canister is covered in mud, meaning that Biosyn can't get it, but it also causes InGen to go bankrupt.
Six years later following the incident at Jurassic Park, Bill Steingarten is replaced by Jeff Rossiter as the new CEO of Biosyn, which keeps trying to gain InGen's technology. They even try to buy InGen from Japanese creditors but are left unsuccessful. One of their scientists, Howard King, is about to be fired from his job, but Dodgson manages to manipulate him into helping him. Biosyn also hires a new scientist named George Baselton so he can improve their image.
Eventually, Dodgson travels to Site B, Isla Sorna, alongside King and Baselton, to claim dinosaur eggs for themselves, but all three of them are killed by dinosaurs and don't make it out alive. It is unknown what happened to Biosyn after this, but considering it was never heard of again, it is possible that they went bankrupt or were dissolved by the government due to their crimes being exposed.
Universal's Timeline[]
Biosyn was founded in 1977 by Bill Steingarten and Jeff Rossiter and has three subsidiary companies: NutriSyn, PharmaSyn, and Nano League Technologies. After Steingarten became the company's first CEO, in 1993, Lewis Dodgson, an employee of the company, conspires with Dennis Nedry for the latter to steal dinosaur embryos for their own nefarious purposes. Dodgson even sent two mercenaries named Miles Chadwick and Nima Cruz to get the Barbasol can themselves as a Plan B.
However, this fails because of Nedry's death, and while Chadwick and Nima find the can, Chadwick is devoured by a pack of Dilophosaurus while Nima is either devoured by Rexy, if she goes after the can, or escapes with Gerry and Jessica Harding, if she saves her life. Thus, Dodgson didn't get the embryos back until an unspecific time following the incident.
In 1994, Steingarten was replaced by Jeff Rossiter as CEO, who was replaced by Dodgson in 2013.

Jurassic Park (Topps comics)[]
Biosyn makes an appearance where they are named "Biosyn Genetic Corporation". It is shown that their headquarters are surrounded by a fence, which an InGen espionage team put a bomb in as revenge for their sabotage of Jurassic Park. Some of the Biosyn guards went in a gunshot fight with the team, which gave time for the bomb to blow up.
