Biography[]

While Garfield and Odie (looking exhausted) watch a horror movie on TV during a stormy night, Jon prepares a surprise cake for his dog’s birthday, while Garfield prepares a gigantic tuna sandwich with salt bread and a cabbage salad.

In the kitchen, while Garfield prepares his sandwiches for his movie he watches on television, Jon prepares a cake for Odie by inspiring everything he sees on TV by the fat chef Eddie Gourmand by starting with an good cup full of bicarbonate and three beautiful vanilla pod, adding half a cup of sugar he forgot to take it out in the car. But before he brings back the sandwiches prepared for the stay, Jon orders Garfield help for Odie’s cake, Garfield takes over to cook for his owner, he adds 250 grams of flour (by putting a mass of flour) and twelve bags of yeast, half a cup of milk.

When Garfield voluntarily follows the corner for the surprise cake of Odie’s birthday, he adds some square of pastry chocolate (putting all the chocolate of the house).

While Garfield is cooking, Jon finally finds the sugar take it out in the car, he goes back into the kitchen and thanks Garfield for taking over for Odie’s cake and returns to the living room with the giant sandwich he prepared, after putting the sugar to follow the recipe, Jon watches TV, but he accidentally puts the sugar box on the remote, which changed channel to see the horror movie what Garfield and Odie watch on TV.

Although he changed the channel by mistake instead of following the recipe of Eddie Gourmand, Jon follows the instructions of the mad scientist starting with a dose of vinegar, then sodium chloride and zenium gel by bringing Jon’s box of chemist in the kitchen.

During his cooking lesson, Jon puts floridric amonium. But instead of following the instructions of the mad scientist, Jon accidentally takes over the kitchen chain of Eddie Gourmand by pouring the preparation into a dish and putting it in the oven, after listening to the culinary instruction of Eddie Gourmand, Jon puts the cake in the oven for Odie’s birthday and returns in the living room to participate in the horror movie that Garfield and Odie are watching.

While Garfield, Odie, and Jon watch the horror movie, a lightning bolt hits the Arbuckle house, causing the Birthday Cake Monster's birth that Jon accidentally prepared to wake up, making it grow to a monstrous size.

Because of Jon’s culinary error, Garfield makes feel in the kitchen the cake prepared by Odie, but when entering the kitchen and opening the oven, he sees that the oven is empty and that it angered Garfield by stealing Odie’s birthday, accusing him of stealing cake. But touching the cake, Garfield feels that the cake thief is nothing but the Birthday Cake Monster, looking at the impressive size, he tasted the cake, he appreciates that the monster accidentally created by Jon makes him a dessert that is the size of his appetite, but the Birthday Cake Monster attacks Garfield trying to eat him and Garfield whipped cream from the Birthday Cake Monster to continue his fight.

While Jon entered the kitchen by turning on the light, (instead of scolding Garfield for trying to eat Odie’s cake) he realized to his horror that he made his cake for Odie's birthday a monster because of his chain change by mistake and fortunately, his cat explains the opposite to his owner in order to understand the truth, forcing Garfield, Odie and Jon and leave the house to lead them into the city and the Birthday Cake Monster destroys the door to pursue them.

During its pursuit on Jon and his two pets, the Birthday Cake Monster crushed Harvey, which makes his wife Sheila happy that he did not forget his birthday for buying a cake.

In the city, Garfield, Odie and Jon are chased by the Birthday Cake Monster, unlike Garfield who voluntarily followed Eddie Gourmand's show to have taken over from his owner before being thanked, Jon must have made a serious mistake in following the orders the show because of his changing the channel by mistake and fortunately, Garfield must find Eddie Gourmand to overcome their fear, during the chase, the Birthday Cake Monster steals a yellow car belonging to an elderly couple to facilitate the pursuit. During the chase, everyone in town (including the Garbage Truck Man hiding in the garbage can by fear) notices the Birthday Cake Monster, then the red light stops the chase until the green light. Despite the green light the pursuit continues, making expel Garfield towards the Birthday Cake Monster, Jon saves Garfield by taking his hand, but he accidentally lands in the garbage, making Garfield and Odie by heading to the building from which Eddie Gourmand’s show aired.

After Jon finally found Garfield and Odie without worry, but the chase continues until they finally find the building from where Eddie Gourmand’s show turned, but made the Birthday Cake Monster hit by bringing back the car it stole from the elderly couple.

After returning the car to the old couple, the Birthday Cake Monster climbs to the top of the building, terrifying the inhabitants of the city and making destroy the oven of Eddie Gourmand and rampage the studio (believing that he put too much baking soda), Eddie hides in his office, but fortunately, Jon opens the door (by crushing on the wall Mr. Hotchkins, the Director and the Cameraman by mistake) to enter and orders to his two pets to stop the Birthday Cake Monster in order to correct his culinary mistake, but Garfield intends to fight the Birthday Cake Monster alone to prepare to sacrifice himself by making him eat it with a large spoon in order to save the studio.

During the fight, Garfield climbed onto the Birthday Cake Monster and tried to eat it, but he dropped it and Garfield spares himself to say that he has a diet without cake and comes out of the hole where the monster destroyed, in order to escape falling, Garfield discreetly line the walls, but the Birthday Cake Monster follow him, growing an arm and kidnaps Garfield to make him climb to the top of the building by heading to the top of the antenna.

While it climbs to the top of the antenna, the Birthday Cake Monster is asked by Garfield holding the large spoon in his place, saving Garfield by himself by jumping towards the antenna by sliding to the roof of the building without being rescued by Jon.

After Garfield manages to escape on his own without being saved by Jon, the Birthday Cake Monster notices the large spoon he gave while looking at Garfield, but at some point lightning strikes the antenna, sacrificing the large spoon give from Garfield by killing the Birthday Cake Monster in the process and correcting the cooking mistake that Jon have done for Odie's birthday for good.

Despite the death of the Birthday Cake Monster, his remains are raining chocolate mini cakes, Garfield wishes a happy birthday to Odie, celebrating his victory over the Birthday Cake Monster.

Trivia[]

  • The role of the Birthday Cake Monster has similarities with the Creature That Lived in the Refrigerator, Behind the Mayonnaise, Next to the Ketchup and to the Left of the Cole Slaw (also known as the Creature That Lived in the Refrigerator or simply the Refrigerator Creature) who is also the titular main antagonist of the "same name" in the episode of Garfield and Friends, both villains are mutated recipes accidentally created by Jon and sowing terror and destroy all in their path out of fear and by vandalism and they were defeated to death by Garfield alone by sacrificing a culinary object (box of baking soda/large spoon) in order to correct the mistake of his owner without being helped or rescued by Jon.
    • Although it's intended for a relatively young audience and because it's a genderless creation, the Birthday Cake Monster (just like the Creature That Lived in the Refrigerator, Behind the Mayonnaise, Next to the Ketchup and to the Left of the Cole Slaw, the Glitch and Barry) is one of the rare antagonists from the Garfield franchise who dies.
  • The Birthday Cake Monster is a parody of Frankenstein’s monster, because the two villains are monsters created by humans.
  • The scene where the Birthday Cake Monster grabs Garfield and climbs the tower refers to King Kong where the giant ape (King Kong) grabs Ann Darrow while climbing towards the top of the Empire State Building.
  • In real life, dogs are forbidden to give chocolate, because it contains theobromine that it can wait for the cardiovascular, nervous and renal system of the dog.
  • Although the franchise is known for its better humor, the Birthday Cake Monster has comic relief, such as it crushes Harvey to make Sheila happy while it chases Garfield, Jon and Odie in the street, which makes him one of the funniest antagonists from the Garfield franchise.
