~ Bjornson's most famous quote |
Bjornson the Cheesemonger is a minor antagonist in the 2022 Disney+ hybrid film Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which serves as a "meta" continuation of the 1980s classic animated show of the same name.
He's a cheesemaker with a friendly personality at first, but is then revealed to be a criminal who works for the Valley Gang. When Chip and Dale come to his local, Bjornson captures them and sends them to his boss Sweet Pete.
He was voiced by Keegan-Michael Key, who also played Pupa in Let's Be Cops, Alpha Wolf in Storks, Kamari in the live-action remake of The Lion King, SkekZok in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Gustafson in Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.
Appearance
Bjornson is a dark yellow Muppet with a brown mustache and chef's attire.
Personality
Bjornson seemed to have a friendly personality at first, being your typical Swedish-Italian chef that bakes for a living, but when Chip asks him for stinky cheese, he loses his friendly personality and is revealed to be a criminal. He bakes his cheese like drugs to drug and lure characters to Sweet Pete, and he does not like cops.
History
Bjornson the Cheesemonger is a criminal that has probably been running his operation for multiple years before the events of the film, thus why he doesn't like cops. When Chip and Dale meet him, he seems like a nice chef on the middle of the street. However, when Dale asks for stinky cheese, he drops his friendly persona and voice into a much darker one, and asks if they're cops. It's then revealed that he gets people hooked on stinky cheese, like drugs, and had played a big role in Monterey "Monty" Jack's disappearance.
After letting them come in for some cheese, Chip and Dale find out that Bjornson has been running a cheese cartel underground, and uses mice to operate it. He then ties their arms with zip ties, kidnaps them and gets them transported in a Cheese Truck to the headquarters of the Valley Gang.
Bjornson later appears in the credits betting on a fight, meaning he was not arrested.

Trivia
- He is clearly based on The Swedish Chef from The Muppets.
- Reflective of this, "Bjornson" is a Norwegian surname meaning "Son of Bjørn".
- When first introduced, he speaks in a Swedish-Italian accent, reminiscent of the Swedish Chef's voice. However, after his true nature is revealed, he speaks in a regular voice.
- The change in Bjornson's voice is likely meant to be reflective of the fact that the Swedish Chef's most notable portrayers, Jim Henson and Bill Barretta, are not actually Swedish.
- As typical with puppet characters, the bottom of his torso is never shown, which Chip and Dale never acknowledge.
