The Black Dragonflight are a race of mostly villainous and hostile dragons corrupted by influence of the Old Gods. Under the leadership of Deathwing, their goal was the eradication of all mortal life on Azeroth. There are 67 known individuals in this race.
They first appeared in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, in a mission where Arthas Menethil, with help from dwarven dragon hunters, killed the dragon Searinox to use his heart for enchanting weapons.
World of Warcraft
In the original game, the Black Dragonflight is led by Nefarian, who operates out of Blackwing Lair within Blackrock Mountain, and Onyxia, who rests in her lair in Dustwallow Marsh.
In The Burning Crusade, they appeared in Outland. Most of the black dragons there have been impaled on the spikes of the Blade's Edge Mountains, with a few survivors like Sabellian and his whelps.
In Wrath of the Lich King, the black dragonflight enters an uneasy alliance with the other dragonflights against the Blue Dragonflight, led by Malygos.
In Cataclysm, they are one of main antagonistic forces along with the Twilight's Hammer and the twilight dragonflight. By the end of the expansion, the black dragonflight is nearly extinct, with the exception of Wrathion, a black dragon born from an uncorrupted egg.
In Warlords of Draenor, remnants of the black dragonflight remain in Hordemar City. A lone black dragonman named Kyrak appears in Upper Blackrock Spire.
In Legion, Spiritwalker Ebonhorn of the Highmountain tauren reveals himself to be another uncorrupted black dragon named Ebyssian.
