Black John Licorice is the main antagonist of the Codename: Kids Next Door episode Operation: L.I.C.O.R.I.C.E. The former captain of Stickybeard the pirate, he was one of many who stole candy from kids across the globe. However, his luck would run out when he learned of a forest of red licorice. Chopping all of it down for his crew, John and his pirates were cursed, becoming skeletons made of black licorice by night, and piles of licorice by day.
Black John Licorice was voiced by Marc Graue, who also voiced Bowser in the game Hotel Mario and Xin Fu in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
History[]
According to the song sung by Stickybeard and his crew, John was rotten, even by their standards, which according to said song, he would even steal candy from his mom. During their travels, John as his crew found an island with a forest of red licorice near North Dakota. Chopping it down and taking it for himself, John's crew was cursed to become skeletons made entirely out of black licorice by night. Not only could they only taste black licorice, but the crew became piles of black licorice by sunrise, only to return to their cursed forms by night. Eventually Black John got his wish for a cure from a gypsy fortune teller. She gave the crew a licorice seed which would restart the forest, ending their curse. Just as they were about to plant the seed, the sun rose, turning them lifeless. It was later that day, Stickybeard and his cabin boy, Henrich von Marzipan, had arrived on the same island. Henrich took the seed from Black John's hand, only for the sun to set. Black John and his crew awoke, with Stickybeard and Henrich barely escaping.
Sometime later, Black John had finally tracked Henrich to the Kids Next Door Arctic Prison, where he was presently serving time, and took him from his cell. Much to Johns anger, Henrich had eaten the seed the day before, hating the prison food. The crew of licorice pirates then decided to plant Henrich in the ground, so the seed would grow inside of the boy's stomach, which would kill him. Enlisting Stickybeard and his crew, Numbah 5 tracked the pirates to the island where she challenged John to a sugar eating contest. The plan was actually to distract John long enough, and for the seed to grow enough, for Chewy and Gooey to kick the seed out of Henrich's belly. John and his crew were still cursed, just as the sun came up.

- Black John Licorice and his crew are clearly meant to be a parody of Hector Barbossa and his crew from the movie Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
