Biography[]

Black Manta has been an infamous criminal and has an extensive past with Aquaman where the latter considers him his archenemy.

At one point, he allies himself with Orm to go against Aquaman. After Ocean Master defeats and imprisons Aquaman, Black Manta attacks Ocean Master and ties him up with Aquaman. He reveals that he intends to destroy all of Atlantis with advanced weapons at his disposal. As he continues with his plans to try and destroy the country, Black Manta is confronted by Batman and later Aquaman and Orm where he is defeated and eventually arrested.

Since his arrest, Black Manta returns to wreaking havoc in Gotham with a large, armored car. He fights against both Batman and B'Wana beast in the city. His crime spree is eventually stopped by both superheroes and he is eventually arrested.

Black Manta is later seen allying with Owlman, the Brain, Gentleman Ghost, and other supervillains to help Owlman against Batman. He gets into another fight with the heroes in the compound until he is defeated and arrested alongside the other supervillains.

Black Manta is later seen among a group of criminals in Baby Face's plan until he is defeated and arrest again. He also appears alongside Gorilla Grodd and Clock King where they attempt to steal a rocket that has access to the United Nation's Newcom satellite. Black Manta wanted to use it to cause worldwide chaos. They're encountered by Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Black Canary. During their crime spree, the Music Meister manipulates him and the other villains to sing and dance like they are in a musical as he uses them as pawns to steal the technology from the satellite. He is saved by Batman as Music Meister's manipulation could have led to him and the other villains and heroes dancing into the fire of the rocket ship. However, after being saved he is attacked by the heroes and imprisoned in Iron Heights. As Music Meister later flies past it, he's seen in his cell, suspended in what appears to be fish bowl.

Black Manta appears again during a race that Mongul sets up. He participates in the race against other heroes and villains until he loses the race. As Mongul attempts to destroy the world, the latter is stopped. However, Black Manta and the other villains are incarcerated by the heroes after the race is over.

He later appears again with the other villains as they laugh at Batman who was captured and imprisoned by the Joker. A comedian named Jeffrey Ross kept making fun of Batman for the villains' amusement until Batman breaks out of his imprisonment to attack and defeat the villains.
