Black Mist is a dark wrestling federation seeking to take control of the sport of wrestling and the main antagonists of the 1976 wrestling-themed tokusatsu series Azteckaiser.

They are ruled by the mysterious entity Luar, while their wrestlers are all managed by his chief servant Satan Demon. They were previously banished from entering wrestling tournaments because their wrestlers killed people in the ring, only to return one year later to claim the championship. Their ultimate goal is to obtain the ancient artifact known as the Star of the Aztec and use its power to forever control the sport of wrestling.

History[]

One year prior to Shun becoming Azteckaiser, Black Mist had one of their wrestlers compete against Daiji Takaba, a rising star in the wrestling world. Daiji would be fatally injured and perish in the match, leading his younger brother Shun to start secretly training to wield the Star of the Aztec to become Azteckaiser and avenge his brother.

Black Mist were banished from the wrestling world for the deaths at the hands of their fighters, but returned one year later to crash the championship match. After Strong Ricky won the championship belt, Satan Demon, the manager of Black Mist, suddenly appeared and summoned his fighter Hell of Fresh Blood to challenge him for it. Despite Strong Ricky's best efforts, Hell of Fresh Blood beat him down and pronounced himself the winner, even though he had technically fought him outside the championship and used black magic in their fight. In outrage, Ricky's fellow wrestler Jo Kanzaki challenged Hell of Fresh Blood to a match, to which Black Satan agreed and announced that the match would be held three days from then, on the anniversary of Daiji Takaba's death.

Satan Demon would later meet with his master, the Aztec demon Luar, to discuss Black Mist's objectives and their plans to obtain the Star of the Aztec. Three days later, Jo would face off against Hell of Fresh Blood in the ring. Despite his strength and wrestling prowess, Jo was unable to stand up to Hell of Fresh Blood empowered by the black magic of Satan Demon and was ultimately beaten. Hell of Fresh Blood then prepared to finish Jo off and kill him, but before he could do so a new fighter burst onto the ring, a mysterious wrestler wielding the Star of the Aztec. After the new wrestler was announced as "Azteckaiser", Hell of Fresh Blood fought him in a wrestling match but was defeated by Azteckaiser with his body slam, right before he fled as mysteriously as he had first appeared. Satan Demon would later report this development to Luar, who was displeased to hear someone else had obtained the Star of the Aztec before them. Satan Demon vowed to defeat Azteckaiser and obtain the Star of the Aztec from him, leading Luar to instruct his follower to use the 13 Cyborg Martial Artists of Black Mist to accomplish that task.
