Black Paint is the overarching antagonist of the 2016 video game Paper Mario: Color Splash.

It is a corrupted, sentient form of paint that is extremely toxic and harmful to touch, and is the result of mixing all of the colors Prism Island's Prisma Fountain together. After Bowser had mixed all of the colors in the fountain, wanting to get a rainbow-colored shell, he is progressively affected by it possessing him, to the point where he becomes Black Bowser, a much more evil version of him.

Appearance[]

Black Paint is essentially an abundant amount of a dark substance that envelops any surface it can find, as suggested by its name. Once it takes hold of an individual, their original appearance remains intact, yet they are also completely covered in this substance, which causes their eyes to emit a vibrant yellow glow.

Biography[]

As Bowser leaped and frolicked within the fountain, the collision of different paint colors unexpectedly resulted in the creation of a dark and ominous black paint. To Bowser's astonishment, this black paint possessed him, transforming him into a malevolent alter ego known as Black Bowser. Driven by his newfound malevolence, Black Bowser devised a wicked plan to steal the Big Paint Stars and command his minions to drain the island and its inhabitants of their vibrant colors. Driven by his insidious intentions, Black Bowser not only desired to control the island but also sought to spread his black paint throughout the entire world, ensnaring every corner in its dark embrace. Embracing his malicious nature, he even went so far as to drain Princess Peach's color, out of sheer annoyance upon discovering her secret communication with Mario. To add insult to injury, Black Bowser callously joked about framing her during his encounter with Mario, displaying his twisted sense of humor. In his transformed state, Black Bowser's roar echoed with a deeper and more unsettling resonance, further highlighting the malevolence that now consumed him. On the vibrant Prism Island, located at Port Prisma, a group of cheerful Toads were joyfully engaging in various activities involving the colorful and mesmerizing paint that adorned the island. From high above, Bowser observed the lively scene and, overcome by his mischievous nature, impulsively decided to dive into the Prisma Fountain, hoping to give his shell a stunning rainbow hue. Little did he know that his reckless actions would lead to an unintended consequence.

Following Mario and Huey successfully retrieving the initial Big Paint Star from Morton and safely delivering it back to Port Prisma, a sudden turn of events occurs as Black Bowser emerges on the scene, snatching Princess Peach and whisking her away to his castle which is situated atop an airship.

As the heroes basked in their hard-earned triumph, they knew that their adventures were far from over. The Mushroom Kingdom would always need their help, and Mario and Huey were ready to face any challenge that awaited them, united in their commitment to protect their beloved home. Once Mario and Huey successfully gathered all the Big Paint Stars, they embarked on a thrilling journey to Black Bowser's Castle. To reach their destination, they hopped aboard Luigi's trusty kart, which whisked them away on a thrilling ride across the iconic Rainbow Road. In a climactic moment, they managed to defeat Black Bowser, freeing him from the clutches of the black paint's influence. As the dark magic dissipated, Bowser returned to his true form—a gruff but lovable king of the Koopas. The victory over Black Bowser not only restored peace to the Mushroom Kingdom but also served as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Mario and his loyal companion, Huey. Their unwavering courage and dedication to saving their world are a shining example to all who face adversity. Upon arriving at the imposing castle, Mario and Huey were faced with numerous challenges and obstacles that tested their courage and skills. One such obstacle was a heated battle against Roy, a formidable foe who stood in their way. However, with Mario's exceptional combat abilities and Huey's valuable guidance, they emerged victorious, proving their unwavering determination. Finally, the courageous duo reached the heart of the castle, where they confronted the menacing Black Bowser. This formidable villain, corrupted by the dark power of black paint, posed a great threat to the Mushroom Kingdom. However, Mario and Huey refused to back down, knowing that the fate of their beloved land hung in the balance. With their combined strength and unwavering hope, Mario and Huey engaged in an epic battle against Black Bowser. They fought valiantly, utilizing their unique abilities and strategies to overcome the villain's malicious attacks. Despite the immense power of the black paint, Mario and Huey's determination proved to be stronger.
