Black Swan, known publicly as the Saint, is an antagonist of the Bogus Skill Fruitmaster series. To the public, she is Saint, a nun who aids in the appraisal of Skills given to those who eat the Skill Fruit. Behind closed doors, she's Black Swan, someone who would do anything to make sure that Sacred, the top party, are seen as such, no matter what damages they cause, or who has to die.
Black Swan is voiced by Sayaka Ohara, the Japanese voice actress for Erza Knightwalker from Fairy Tail.
Biography[]
The Saint has been a member of the Investigation Bureau for some time and became its top member. Among her duties include appraising those who have eaten Skill Fruits, which grant those who eat them random abilities, with Saint having an analytical ability, allowing her to see one's stats. Among those were childhood friends, Light and Lena. Light was given a fruit master Skill, effectively making him a farmer instead of an adventure like he wanted. Lena however was given the rare Sword Saint ability. Ignoring Lena's feelings, Saint took Lena to the capital and forced her into the top Adventure Party, Sacred.
It was quickly obvious to Lena that Sacred only cared about glory. One of her first missions with the group was to defeat a large snake monster that was terrorizing a local farming community. Grouse, Sacred's leader, ordered a quick defeat with fire magic, which while successful in defeating the monster, caused the local crops to catch fire due to a changing wind. Lena attempted to convince Sacred to help, but Grouse deemed it the lesser of two evils, not caring about the damages he caused.
Lena attempted to talk to Saint about what had happened, but the nun shrugged it off, saying that all that mattered was Sacred's victory. Lena kept up the facade, believing she was doing good, only to run into Light three months later. Being that she had to keep in Grouse's good graces, Lena acted as if they never met. Meeting Light and his new friend Ayla later in disguise, where she revealed what had happened, and wondered how Light was now an adventurer. To Lena's surprise, Ayla had accidentally cooked a Skill Fruit into their meal once, which should have killed Light, being only one could be eaten per person. Instead, Light's Fruit Master Skill granted him immunity to the poison and was given a second Skill in the form of Sword Master.
Light is able to defeat Grouse with this skill in a duel, allowing Lena to join Light's newly created party of Luxeria. Infuriated, Saint gives them low ranking and low paying jobs being that Lena refused to rejoin Sacred. To end this, she sends Luxeria on a job to investigate a castle. It was discovered that the necromancer, Dratena, controlled the corpses of her victims, including several adventures, on orders from her master, Black Swan. Despite the overwhelming numbers, Luxeria is able to defeat Dratena, despite her summoning a dragon. Unbeknown to the party, Saint, revealing to be Black Swan, has set up a meeting with someone, revealing that Light might be more useful than expected.
Saint later is among those who listen to Lena about Dratena's abilities. However, Saint frequently dodged Lena's questions regarding Dratena. As the questions continued, Saint then decided to disband Luxeria, because Grouse had filed a complaint. Light then joins his party in the meeting hall to defend his party. To remedy this, she orders Luxeria defeat an S-Ranked monster in compensation. A task which would be increasingly problematic as Light didn't have a sword. So, Luxeria decides to separate temporarily. Lena would go investigate Dratena on her own, while Ayla would go meet a famous Blacksmith named Monica Bolst to make a new sword. However, Monica and her shop where being harassed by Zamado, a Lightning Skill user and one of Black Swan's allies. Zamado attempted to kill Light and would have succeed had he not forced another Skill Fruit down Light's throat. This gave Light a fire ability called Torch Fire, and effortlessly defeats Zamado.
