Blaine Rotshchild is the main antagonist of the "Diet Phantasma" segment in the 2025 found footage anthology horror film V/H/S/Halloween.
He is the corrupt and greedy COO of Octagon, who seeks to perfect the soda known as Diet Phantasma, which is made with real Poltergeists, to ship it and get as much money as possible for it, not caring how many people he has to test it on or how many people will get killed, in order to do so.
He is portrayed by David Haydn.
Biography[]
Blaine Rothschild is first seen being shown the place by one of his many scientists, to then him talking to the many test subjects, presenting himself to them and greeting them, but completely hiding the truth about why they are there.
Starting with the first subject, Rotshchild convinces him into drinking some of the soda, all the while watching and speaking from outside the room. From there, Rothschild sees as the subject gets brutally killed by the spirits inside of the soda, feeling more annoyed than anything after seeing that it didn't work out as planned.
Bringing more subjects, Rothschild continues seeing them die over and over, each time perfecting the soda a little more, until it would get to his expectations. Getting a kid to test the soda, Rothschild gets him to drink even more after not seeing any type of secondary effects, which ends up making the body of the minor to explode, which only annoyed Blaine more.
Bringing even more subjects to one room, Rothschild gets all of them to drink the soda, feeling each time more irritated. That is until he sees that a little girl seemed to have end up possessed but killed herself in the process, feeling satisfied when hearing that her favorite soda was the Diet Phantasma and that she wanted more. That is when the rest of subjects, also possessed, start attempting to break in the place, and although the rest of scientists were completely scared for their lives, Blaine calmly smoked a cigarette and ordered them to ship the soda now, and although another scientists tells him that they shouldn't as it wasn't ready yet, Blaine gets angry and screams to do as he says, not caring for the many people that would end up endangered because of his actions, only caring for the money that he will make. It is unknown if Blaine Rotshchild survived the attack of the subjects, but he presumably was killed.
