Jarl and Allisito, better known as the Blind Cannibal Assassins, are minor antagonists in the AMC series Into the Badlands, serving as the titular main antagonists of the episode of the same name.
They are a group of former Clippers in the post-apocalyptic wasteland known as the Badlands who kidnapped Ryder, the son of Baron Quinn. As punishment, they had their eyes burned out and were left to die. To survive, they took refuge in an abandoned underground hospital and began killing and eating human scavengers that passed through the surrounding area.
Jarl was portrayed by Michael Gould. Allisito was portrayed by Alexandra Moen, while her younger self was portrayed by Fiona Rose Stout.
Personality[]
In general, the assassins are shown to be very ruthless and sadistic individuals, being former Clippers who attempted to abduct Ryder and even mutilating him in order to try and gain a ransom from his father. After being blinded, they began drugging and kidnapping scavengers that came through the area their bunker was located in so that they could consume their body, showing they were truly savage people even for the Badlands. All of that said, Jarl and Allisito's love for each other is genuine, and they both had a desire to have children despite failing several times, even offering to allow Sunny to join their clan so that they would not deprive his infant son Henry of having a father. After learning that the others were dead, Allisito expressed regret for everything she had done, even refusing to leave with Sunny when he offered, instead choosing to end her own life, knowing she was too far beyond redemption.
Biography[]
In the past, Jarl was a a Clipper for Baron Quinn while Allisito was a Clipper for Baron Hassan, but despite their Barons being enemies they ended up falling in love. At some point, they and other former Clippers created a group of nomad scavengers, and kidnapped Ryder, Quinn's son, in order to hold him for ransom. When the ransom was not paid, they cut off three of his toes and sent them back to Quinn. After this, Quinn's Regent Waldo tracked them down alongside Sunny, his Colt. Waldo captured them and revealed that instead of killing them they would have their eyes burned out as revenge for what they did to Ryder. Sunny himself was ordered to do it, being the one who blinded Allisito. After this, the group took refuge in an abandoned underground hospital, and memorized the layout so they could navigate it without their eyesight. They eventually had one of their members, an old man who was blind naturally rather than having been blinded by Waldo or Sunny, lure nearby scavengers to them so that they could kill them and consume their body in order to stay alive. This went on for several years, until one day Sunny, now an adult with an infant son named Henry came through the area near the bunker once again alongside Bajie, his traveling companion. The old man offers them food and drugs them before taking Henry, and after they follow his tracks to the bunker, where they are ambushed and captured. Around this time, Nathaniel Moon, tracking down Sunny for the sake of revenge, is also given food by the old man and drugged, taken to the bunker and imprisoned alongside them. Jarl and Allisito give Sunny the offer to be blinded and join them, so as to not leave Henry without a father, but he refuses. Sunny confesses to Allisito that he was the one who blinded her, causing her great devastation to be confronted by the person who took her eyesight. The assassins then attack their three prisoners, but Sunny manages to overpower and kill one of his attackers and take the keys off of him, allowing them to escape and kill all of the assassins present, including Jarl. Sunny eventually confronts Allisito, apologizing for having blinded her, and offering to let her come with them. She refuses, saying she has been underground to long, and instead gives Henry back to Sunny, before comitting suicide.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Martial Arts/Swordsmanship: The Blind Cannibal Assassins are shown to be extremely capable warriors, being former Clippers prior to the loss of their eyesight, and even still able to overpower powerful warriors such as Sunny when they are in their underground bunker, having memorized the layout and able to fight with proficiency as if they could still see.
- Leadership: Jarl and Allisito were able to perform an abduction of a Baron's son, and even able to form and lead an underground tribe of cannibals despite all of them being blind.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown what became of the blind man after the death of the other cannibals considering he was not present in the bunker when everyone was killed by Sunny and Bajie.
