~ Blinky leading the Ghost Gang against Pac-Man.noicon
Blinky, sometimes nicknamed Shadow, is one of the main antagonists of the Pac-Man franchise. Almost always depicted as the leader of the Ghost Gang, Blinky is the most determined when it comes to taking down Pac-Man, sporting a relentlessly angry attitude. While Pac-Man always has problems with ghosts, and Blinky sometimes isn't above working with him or serving another villain, he is still considered Pac-Man's main nemesis.
Kazuhiro Fusegawa in the Japanese version of both.
Personality[]
Blinky is very aggressive and the most determined of the ghost gang, he is also the most intelligent and the most vain member of the ghost gang. He is also the most aggressive ghost in all of the Pac-Man maze games, constantly chasing Pac-Man. Blinky is also the main nemesis of Pac-Man: however, several Pac-Man games depict this as a form of friendly antagonism.
In the 1982 Hanna Barbera series, Blinky is shy, cowardly and nervous. Blinky's cowardice is most often shown when Pac-Man eats a Power Pellet and Blinky tries to run away from him, to no avail. Blinky also apparently has grammar problems, such as mispronouncing "Dragon" as "Blagon", for some reason. He also admits defeat when he's defenseless, and sometimes has a nervous breakdown. He, however never feels remorse for his actions in the slightest, and has a desire to protect himself from being chomped by Pac-Man.
Appearance[]
Blinky is a red ghost with red eyes that has an angry expression. He's limbless in the games, but some incarnations (such as Pac-Man World) show him with arms wearing orange gloves.
In the Hanna Barbera TV series and Pac-Land, Blinky wears a wide-brimmed hat, but has a cowardly and scared expression rather than being angry in the games. In Pac-Man Party and Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, he a protrusion on his head (he calls that his "hairdo"), blue eyes, and stubbier arms.
History[]
Blinky first appears in the original arcade game alongside Pinky, Clyde, and Inky as the main villain of the first Pac-Man game antagonizing Pac-Man. He also has a daughter named Yum-Yum.
He is the most aggressive and fastest of the ghosts and often arrogant and rude.
In the later games he would go after Pac-Man Jr. and Ms. Pac-Man as well in their games. In the later games he would continue to antagonize Pac-Man but his role as a villain was diminished to ally in recent incarnations. Blinky and his friends would serve as minions to other major villains like Ghost Witch of Netor, Spooky, and Lord Betrayus. He would sometimes side with Pac-Man to stop the greater threats.
Other media[]
Pac-Man The Animated Series[]
In the first cartoon series Blinky and the ghost gang serve the main villain Mezmeron with the difference is that Blinky is not the leader of the ghost gang and is more timid and shy than his previous incarnations with Clyde being the leader of the four.
Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures[]
In the new adventures cartoon Blinky is now the leader of the ghost gang again this time serving the main villain Lord Betrayus and they would later befriend Pac-Man behind their master's backs often hanging out with them in their adventures.
Quotes[]
“
I knew the other ghosts couldn't take you. I don't think Spooky can take you. But we'll never know that, see... 'cause you won't make it past me. Especially, since my machine's body is impervious to your rev roll! I've always liked my Pac-Man... extra crispy!
